You can make a life-size doll out of the kigurumi suit and mask. It would be superior to the dakimakura at this location:

If you make a simple PVC pipe skeleton and install narrow but long hinges at certain bending points, the kigurumi doll will have stiffness in appropriate areas with some flexibility in others. Of course, you will have stuffing inside to fill it up. After it is filled up, you can then clothe it and stand it up if you built a little notched spot in the pvc skeleton in back.

After you make one, you can now have fun asking your sister and mother for their old clothes. Tell them it's your new hobby and they happily understand.

I feel like Kig threads are dieing.

I have lost the passion I used to have about them and am curious if that's what has happened for everyone else. It always seemed like there were 3-4 dedicated posters, now it just looks like one. I was the original thread starter but others have been starting them for the past couple months. This makes me happy because it has taken off.

I just dunno, it feels like all the drama has driven me away. I loved it so much more when I was more ignorant to it all. I really wanted to get into the scene and everything. Now I feel like every picture is the same and no one seems to do anything new.

I still feel that there is a lot of potential for kigs to expand and develop, possibly more interesting little shorts of them doing things rather than them just standing around in scenery. For instance, maids could pretend to be cleaning, nurses tending to patients, or even just wearing an apron cooking.

There's really not as much drama as you think there is, believe me. I've met a lot of cool people in the community, the drama you see on 4chan is usually just one or two people (usually one) trying to stir up shit because of some personal vendetta or insecurities. After getting to know a lot of people involved, they're just people, and sometimes they make mistakes or not everyone likes what they're doing, but there's no bad intentions. Wyu is a total bro, Miharu is chill and reasonable, and there's a few immature people but they're ignorable and pretty harmless.

I've left the threads for the most part because I can find pictures just fine on my own now, and I have more fun chatting with the friends I've made. Everyone once in a while I come and share images, and argue with the local retard.

You're right though! There's a lot of potential for creativity within the hobby. When I saw some at a convention, most people loved taking silly "crossover" photos and the like. When I get mine, I'd love to try to do a full cast at a con, maybe a masquerade skit with pre-recorded voices, like the Precure shows.
I love beautiful photos as much as anyone, but I hope I can be creative with mine. There are some videos and photos like the ones you suggested, though.

If you wanna do something new, give it a shot yourself, maybe. We could use more westerners and less "ppl dat type liek this ^_^ hehe" if you know what I mean.

I guess I'll throw in a little part of my opinion too. Though most of the community are really nice people, it just amazes me how autistic some of the people come off as... Also if you don't kig, you're pretty much just there and of no importance. Sucks, but like i said they're all super nice and i have already had plenty of help and plan to order a kig soon. Maybe I'll be able to make some friends then.

Odd hobbies attract odd people. I think we're a bit too inclusive, some people need to be straight up told off. But at the same time it's a small community, so new people are welcomed quickly. I'd say, don't be afraid to speak your mind and participate, no one will respect you any less if you're easy to talk to and mature. Everyone's aware of the difficult investment. A lot of fans are sort of like bulls with blinders - only there for the performers or their fetish - but they're probably not worth talking to. I'm always looking for people who seem cool to chat with, participant or not. People have a lot of different reasons for coming along, (say, because of an interest in zentai or masking) so it's hard to find fans with a decent power level and such.

I will admit I have met a few cool people from the community, mostly Wyu. She's pretty baller.

The reason I follow the 4chan community is because it seems the least....childish. Wyu's forums are full of people who can't spell and seem 12 years old. I'm sure they're nice people but everytime I go there, there are emoticons and shorthand everywhere.

It does seem like everyone now knows where to get the pics from which could be why the 4chan threads seem so inactive.

I'd really love to meet some at a con but there are extremely few cons here in Adelaide, let alone ones with kigs.

I used to really want to get into kig mostly so I could do the shoots I was talking about. These days I'm not so sure, I'm not really liking the community. Although I play a lot of StarCraft 2 and don't like that community much. I also don't think I'd be very good at it, but hey, that's how everyone starts.

The "immature" side of things is definitely hard to swallow. I can't believe how accustomed I've grown to trying to gracefully brush off attempted "*hugs*" thrown at me or what-have-you. Though, it makes it much easier to spot people who type like normal adults. Humorously, on Wyu's forum I noticed that anyone with a Touhou icon is usually cool. You gotta excuse some imperfect english for foreigners, though.

But I digress, I don't think I've ever come across a perfect community. You just gotta find the people you click with and stick to 'em. People who only browse 4chan seem to forget some of the plain facts of social stuff like that, I think. Not that I'm accusing anyone, but we get too used to always being around folks we gel with, or being able to tell people we don't like for even the most minuscule reason to fuck off with no consequence.

Oof, Australia huh? going to cons is bug fun though, even if you're the only one in costume I'd recommend it. And yeah, don't be afraid of lack of skill, everyone has the capability to learn if they're willing. Listen to critique and pay attention to the disciplines, that's all there is to it.

I'd say you're lucky. I'm not so into games as I used to be, and it's actually kinda hard to find people there I can really talk about anime with. You'll probably have better luck. Yeah, I agree with you there. There are so few people who seem to discuss Anime and Manga in a reasonable manner. I'm lucky to have a friend who is very into it all and talks normally.

I might have a look around for smaller cons. I tend to find smaller communities do things better. Also it might be a good way to get into cosplay before I dive into Kigurumi.

What's the best way to get started with Kigs? Im pretty sure I could make the mask myself, painting it is no problem, been airbrushing for a few years now. Only thing stopping me from buying is when I see these things costing hundreds of dollars.

I rarely see older sigma masks around, plus their style hasn't changed all that much over the years so it can be hard to tell. They seem pretty elusive.
