How do you trigger the character makeup anyway?

You got to break into the front cart. Make sure you sneak in and not fight the guards, as the loot is different if you fight.
Then loot the chests (but don’t interact with the bed) and head back out, talk to the jeweler (one of the green guys) and he will offer a trade.
Trade the VH heart for “fortune telling gem” then go to sleep and Nanako will think back on her childhood.

The innkeeper ending is glitched and can't be obtained in this version, no matter how many times you talk to the him behind the counter.

Someone posted a fix for this as a standalone map file, did anyone save it?

Please, how do I play in window mode?
Also, the letters looks so stretched they blend with others it's awfully hard to read the text, the s looks like a g and the w is just a square, cause theres no space between the strokes...

Make sure to check is your Applocale in the same place as mine and change [VH FOLDER GOES HERE] to whatever you have, C:\VH or something.
You might be confused about the switches. RPGmaker is very rigidly coded, in order to start in window it needs to be the THIRD switch. So you can swap "blabla" "dsfgsdg" to "moot" "sucks" or "love" "jp" or "Window" "Window"... anything will do, as long as you have two switches there. And the /L0411 is for Apploc, so that it knows it's meant to be Japanese.

Also, check the previous thread (using easymodo) for finding an answer to your font problem. Other people had the same problem. Somebody even uploaded a .exe file which used a different font I believe.

Looking at that window it's obvious that you aren't running the game under Japanese locale. Google Microsoft Applocale, download it from them. Then google how to install it on Vista since it's meant to be used in older Windows system. Then it's just a matter of using Applocale to launch the game under Japanese.

In some version, babies went to Nanako's home in Nanako's hometown. It was pretty much un-implemented back then (read: completely empty except for the babies).
The breastfeeding is for Rin's baby. Directions on how to get that H scene are in the wiki. Until Capital is translated, you don't need to worry about it though.

Nanako will only abandon monster babies in that patch of grass.
Babies show up in your inventory and in Nanakos house.
Nanakos house is a work in progress area (not translated), it can be accessed with the books on a counter south of the central fountain.
You can interact with and in some cases feed breastfeed your babies, you can masturbate on the bed, take a bath, use the toilet and a couple more things.
If Rin is in your party she will also show up there and you can interact with her in handful different ways.

Applocale makes a game run like it was ran in a Windows of some other language. For example, a Spanish windows program might have some special hola éspànõl letters which an English windows doesn't understand. That crashes the program. Thus, you use Applocale to simulate the program in a Spanish environment and it functions as should. This time, it's obviously Japanese which we simulate.

Launch Applocale and it'll ask you what program to run. Then it'll ask you which language you want to run it in. Japanese is usually at the very bottom. It's written in japanese so good luck identifying apart from Korean/Chinese/etc.

Or you could just make a shortcut - right click on desktop -> new -> shortcut, add this said before:
C:\APPLOC PATH GOES HERE\AppLoc.exe "VH FOLDER GOES HERE\VH_110820_rogue patch1\RPG_RT.exe" "/L0411"
Just fix the paths and you'll launch the game in Japanese locale.

If you're the sole user of your computer, you can also just set it into Japanese. That'll have side effects (such as EA games installers becoming Japanese, have fun installing those) but you won't need to worry about Applocale.

I tried to do the Bodyguard guild quest, but Nanako was so horny it was impossible to kill the monsters before they killed the dude every single time. I don't have a save before I took the quest, and I was forced to fail it, and now it won't let me do it again. Did I screw myself from doing that quest ever again? Also, how do I progress the storyline? I did all the other guild quests, and now I can't really do anything else here. I bought the ticket to Capital, but I haven't gone there yet because it's untranslated.

I'm also trying to see if there's any more to do with the kids to the east after they screw me, but it doesn't seem like it. Their mother has disappeared, is that the end of that "sidequest"?

After you've completed three different missions (and checked your local ranking) talking to the guild master will give you the first plot-quest.
After completing all six (or failing them) AND seeing two cutscenes from nights you get the second plotline quest (which also give you a free ticket to the capital).
The minotaur and escort missions can be failed, but I don't think that'll impede your progress. Just check your ranking and proceed.

Also, you can be a total slutwhore and still one-shot everything. However, you'll need the Orc Penis. Getting this item is a bit harder than it used to... during night, near the loan-shark demon's entrance is a hidden entrance. I don't really know how to explain it, but you enter it while facing left. Inside there, a Ghost Nanako sells some rare items - Orc Penis being one of them (and granting like 80 atk).

Ghost Nanako also sells Rope. Note, you cannot get rid of the Rope once you buy it. If you've fucked the kids during the night and try to fuck them during the day when you have Rope in your inventory the mom will come home and catch you. You'll need to beat her, good luck with that. Since you're naked and can't change equip you need to hit her 500 times without being hit once. YES, she seriously has 500 HP, apparently crit-immune and one-shots you. You can exploit the wall I guess, but it'll still be mighty boring.

looks like the problem was with the directory I was trying to run the game from, either because it was too large (deep inside many folders) or most likely because one of them had a "ô" in its name, which I believe is not unicode and messed things up.

ran it from desktop and now can play it properly

Nanako's attack goes two spaces. The wall dividing the bedroom from the living room is one space. Stand on one side and have the mother on the other. She'll try to get to you through the wall, but can't. Beat away.

So, just started playing, a bit late, yeah. Started on Debug mode, for when I get bored of grindding, but until that happens, I will try to stay honest to the game.

Usually the game tends to handle things at 10-70 stats, so I believe getting Charm 100+ Desire 100+ Dirty 100+ will make Nanako a total slut. Dirty is like negative Purity, you probably don't have a "Dirty" stat yet.

Which is funny because Habisan hosts his translation tool only on sites that offer money from downloads which he of course is getting when he demands nobody distribute a prepatched version.
I don't even have any ulterior motives, just want mah bros to get some of dat VH.

I'm currently trying to figure out a way to make the VH installer run correctly even on PCs that are not setup with JP locale.
I was able to fix the font bug associated with it (uploaded the exe for people who wanted that).
But still one more problem remain and that is that it crashes on the 2nd page of the diary.
Filenames are in Japanese and without JP locale these filenames turn into stuff like: "‚ÈŽ–‚Å‚à�D‚«‚É�‘‚¢‚Ä.png" but this is not a problem because that's also how the filenames get interpreted in the code too.
There is only one problem, there is apparently some JP character that when translated into gibberish becomes " | " which is an illegal character for filenames.
So the game goes looking for "|-something.png" which it can't find because that file cannot exist.
If I could find out which character becomes "|" I could rename it slightly and reprogram the game to use the new filename.
With that the game could possibly work 100% with just running the installer (unless there are more bugs that I've not discovered yet).

There's lots of clothes for Nanako. You can get the risque swimsuit and towel from the bathing house (I think you still get to keep those?), maid clothes are from capital bar quest I believe. Ghost Nanako also sells school swimsuit.

The Goblin Cave is something like West West West South East from Onsen town. It's a tiny little path before a bridge if I recall right.

You can't be fucking serious, the map and database files for RPG Maker 2000 have been mapped and re-implemented on several occasions. Habisan is just someone who has re-implemented it recently in a more novel way.
Dreamaker is one of the alternative translation tools available, but works under more strict settings since it goes after location (event command) rather than doing string comparison. Something that makes it less apt for working with games under constant development, but definitely manageable if you're not completely incompetent.
