back almost 10 years ago, i used to read this monthly issues call 'pacific friend' in my school library. lots of normal japan images just like what this thread posted and articles of japanese lifestyle and such. they hardly discuss much about the otaku and anime culture, rather they focus more on real life stuff like environment, music, food, arts and traditional cultures. whenever i read it, i feel like i'm there for 1/2 hour a day before the lunch break is over. then they stopped publishing and came out as a different title called 'japan +', which i think stopped it's publication too.

I don't think you need 1500 words to talk about the fucking weather. That's the core of Japanese language that they don't teach you in the west. Japanese people only talk about the weather, and you're left to decode what the fuck they're trying to say.

Example:

"I think it's going to be warmer tomorrow" = "I have a fucking bomb"

"My mother likes to have picnics outside when the weather is like this." = "I live in a trailer park."*

*This can also mean "Get the fuck out of my country, you otaku faggot" If said in a more casual style.
