I'm playing a childhood friend route in a VN but it's not enough for me.

Is there a VN with a route where the girl actually BECOMES your childhood friend? So that you have all those memories together. Like going off to play in the fields near your house, and the time you rode bikes together near the river and went so far you got in trouble for getting back after dark, or when you fell off your bike and sprained your wrist and she had to help you home, and all those times you came home from family vacation in Arizona and she was waiting on her bike for you to get home so you could go play? These VNs are missing all those years of memories together.

What visual novel has that route?

>> No.7988403

I think if they were to do something like that, it'd be impossible for the VN to give any attention to any other female character.

There would already be this huge history with this one character. I love the childhood friend routes, but if they do any more than keep it implied, then it makes it difficult to write routes for the other girls.

>> No.7988400

Wouldn't the characters have to be like in elementary school? Anyway, the short first part of Tokimeki Memorial 2 has you play as a kid and meet all the girls as kids and stuff like that kinda happens.

I had to read that multiple times before realizing you didn't mean in reality. I should probably get some sleep.

Yeah, I actually own Tokimemo 2 and that's what got me thinking there's got to be a VN that has a childhood route in it where you go off to play with em.

I want those memories dammit. I want to enjoy knowing the childhood friend is a childhood friend by more than just "hey, this here girl is your childhood friend .... enjoy"

Nothing is worse than memories shared with the childhood friend which are conveniently forgotten until the plot requires it

That would also be acceptable.

it involves time travel though

yeah, I liked how she licks Takaaki all over. I was hard for days.

You just described the reason why I hate childhood friend archetypes

They force you to accept that girl X is your childhood friend

>They force you to accept that girl X is your childhood friend
...? Do you also complain when they 'force you to accept' that girl Y is your imouto?

More eroge should give you the option of customizing your childhood friend

Little sisters are not as crazy as childhood friends

Childhood friends tend to act they they already own you. They feel self entitled and get upset when you have the gaul to look at another girl. They also tend to be violent.

I ain't gots to believe shit dog! I'm my own man!

I think and do what ah want, ya herd?

If that bum over there is mah childhood chum, then by god he is...but ah never met him.

...word

I have to say that the perception of childhood friends of unfortunately changed.

They used to be sweet girl next door types that you want to root for.

Nowadays they're crazy emotionally unstable stalker bitches

The best imoutos are the ones that get upset about you being interested in other girls but can't tell you why they're upset and get all flustered when you point it out.

I think you are describing a single character archetype, and one that isn't specific to childhood friends. Have you maybe not played a lot of VNs? Or have you played Muv-Luv recently and didn't like Sumika or something?

>> No.7988521

>>7988512

Yes, but that's usually where they STOP.

The don't tend to go on a self destructive path to gain pity points from the player character. I don't know which company to blame, but somewhere along the line guilt trips became a valid tactic.

>> No.7988526

Funny that you mention Sumika... I think she's the text book example of what's wrong about childhood friend archetypes in eroge nowadays.

But she wasn't the first. There like that before her.

Sure, but there are plenty of childhood friends that are nothing like what you're describing. Kinu from Tsuyokiss and Rin from Little Busters, just off the top of my head, are childhood friends and nothing like that.

What you are describing is a personality type, and generalising it across all characters of a particular setting.

>guilt trips

While stupid, it's usually required if the protagonist is a dense piece of shit

Love Bride Eve.
It's basically "what does it feel like to have a childhood friend: the eroge"

>> No.7988564

>>7988535

The point is that being someone's childhood friend does not mean you are married to him, nor is he obliged to return your feelings.

And if you don't have any other friends or social life aside from him, you have invested poorly and deserve what you get.

You sound very jaded. Why are you trying to apply 3D logic on 2D?

>> No.7988668

>>7988572

the point is, I don't want to be forced to wear a fucking ball and chain, no matter how cute it is

you're giving childhood friends because they are meant to appeal and be cute

it's the same logic of people who say, "I don't mind an arranged marriage as long as the other person is hot"

>> No.7988753

>>7988668
You are not forced though. There are other heroines that you are able to choose. If you feel guilty, that is you'r own problem.

>> No.7989115

Slightly related to OP's issue, but are there more eroges where you start off as a kid and as the game goes the characters grow up? Kinda like Kana was.
