anything in the all-clickan-and-no-gameplay category counts as visual novels. if it contains H-scenes, it's also an eroge, which is just a shorthand for 'erotic game'.

Eroge, however, includes other genres, such as SLGs (Alicesoft did a few good ones, as did Softhouse Chara) and card/mahjong games.

Visual novel is just a good word. IN JAPAN VISUAL NOVEL MEANS ONLY THE TYPE OF GAME WHERE THEY HAVE HUGE WALLS OF TEXT COVERING THE ENTIRE SCREEN OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT? But we are not in Japan and visual novel sounds nice and it works fine.

I've so far found it impossible to be aroused by a single sex scene in any VN I've played. That's just two and a half so far, but still. Tsukihime may as well have not had those scenes.

Pretty much. I've only played through Tsukihime, but it would have been a much better story without the gratuitous sex.

I love the sex scenes of Tsukihime. I just fapped to the Hisui one.
