Mood counts for a lot too; Eientei feels important and climactic. They tried to make Youkai Mountain seem like a long, increasingly difficult slog up the mystic mountain...but it just doesn't work. The overly dramatic battle music and goofy/pathetic enemies sees to that too.

Arondight is a better weapon for Sakuya than Great maid for Eintei, correct?

>> No.7980345

Trying to decide on who all should get weapon upgrades for Eintei. So far I've gotten Nitori, Sakuya, Marisa, Byakuren and Moukou their sunflower seed weapons. I'd like to get Youmu a stronger weapon but not sure which would be better for the long run: spend 2 rusty blades on Muramasa (25 exo, instant death prco) or have her use the weaker Kashasetsu (50 exo, +5 crit, slayer on youkai/undead) and save up rusty blades for later weapons.

Other than Youmu and those who already have weapon upgrades, there anyone else that it's worthwhile to get an upgrade for? Don't really like Patchy's book and I typically throw the Gamer Fan on her. Reimu and Sanae I plan to use as healers for the two groups and don't really need stronger weapons. Aya is pretty weak since I haven't used her as much as I'd like, but not sure it's worth spending crafting mats on her fans rather than just give her a decent sword or axe. Alice only has one worthwhile upgrade, and she can't get it yet. Satori I've heard could use the green eye but I haven't learned any enemy spells for her so far.

Sanae's fourth snake might be useful if she doesn't have anything to do for a turn, since she can smite something and hope the poison kicks in. Aya's fourth fan gives a nice evasion bonus, if you're trying to build a hyper evasive tengu. Patchy's fourth book has a nice MP bonus, if you're spending too much of it. Rainbow Greaves are Rainbow Greaves. The Green Eye might be useufl if you copy Poison Mist, but it doesn't seem to help too much for me. As for Youmu, I'm using her slayer katana but I'm not sure if I should move up either (I'm most likely going to wait until the second slayer katana).

>> No.7980573

For most characters, you shouldn't need to forge weapons until the 6th tier of weapons. I would go for some character armors first, tier 2 armors can be very good and only cost 2 character reagents. Youmu's and Sakuya's tier 2 armors are much better than the their weapons you can craft at that time, I still used them in the expansion until I could get up to the new upgraded armors, which was a while.

I did use Byakyuren's 4th tier weapon for a while though because it has Divine Barrier and that's when I could use her + status and scroll trees fully.

I don't even use Patchy's weapons, I just stack 1 element like crazy with staffs. Not only do I get more spell power with staffs, but I can start healing for at least half of her health after the 1st round of a fight when using the stacked elements land bonus.

Poison Mist is terrible, don't use it. Satori's default Poison Art will do much more damage per round. Her Green Eye weapon can be nice though if you stack + Poison dmg gear, I can get up to 800 dmg per round that way.

You should level all your party members to at least level 50 at stage 18, you can get some good items and reagents there as well when leveling them up.

When making progress on that stage, I just had 1 main party clear out each path first to make sure I could move safely. The levels are mainly for the 3 bosses you will face there and to make sure you don't get slaughtered by stage 21 enemies if you want to use them there as well.

>> No.7980594

>>7980573

>For most characters, you shouldn't need to forge weapons until the 6th tier of weapons

So you'd suggest just using chest/drop weapons until then? Seems like you'd have an excess of character specific mats, though I see your point on the armor; when does tier 2 armor become available?

One of Sakuya's early weapons lets her basically solo one side of Eientei, so that is definitely worth making. Otherwise yes, the armors are better in general, especially for Nitori.

As for the last thread and Hinotori Skydance being risky: no not really. -33% def with a 75% chance to hit the center is actually more survivable than 50% on Hakurei and as a bonus getting raped by small aoes. You just have to shut down breath users which is very easy and should be done regardless of formation.

I still used Scarlet Moon and the IND/RES up formations more than anything else for the Main game. After that it was Wall of Faith and Anti-Yukkuri.
One of the posters in thread 5 or 6 was talking about how they used a team of Sanae, Mokou, Nitori, Patchy, Satori in Skydance for almost all of the game except a few bosses like Tenshi so I have to imagine that it is an even better formation than I gave it credit for. I believe I did that fight with Alice, Sakuya, Sanae, Marisa and Patchy in the active party, with Aya as my commander for the casting speed bonus.

Sanae should start off with a group wide RES buff followed by MATK buff. Once set up, all she'll do is reapply buffs, dispel Permanent effects, and use the non-spellcard aoe heal if need be.

Sakuya should wait until the buffs you want are up and everyone is relatively topped off, then just Killer World negate Satori's healing.

Alice is just tanking, dump everything into Manipulation, with anything extra into Craft. Giver her the best elemental magic blocking shield you have.

Marisa and Patchy are your main damage dealers. Just make sure that you have one of every elemental attack available to use for Satori's elemental shifting.

Aya's commander bombs can be useful, with the cheap bomb helping to dodge attacks and the expensive bomb useful for emergencies.

Unless I am mistaken, both Hinotori Skydance and Hakurei formations have the same or very similar AoE range, so it does not really matter. The only measure I see is Reimu's small AoE healing, and she tags the same amount of people in both formations.
Which is more survivable depends on who is in the party. If you have Mokou, Sakuya, Youmu, Reimu, and Satori, Hakurei is more survivable than Hinotori Skydance.
However, if you have a party of Patchouli, Mokou, Marisa, Satori, and Nitori, then Hinotori Skydance is probably more survivable. This is because the defense drop won't matter as much, since if they hit your weak characters, they will just die regardless of the drop in defense or not. This is in contrast with the earlier team, where if your characters were hit with lowered defenses, it will make a difference, since they all, except Satori, can take a hit.

But you still have double the chance of hitting anyone but the center so even in the best case survivability isn't much better, and you lose the defend and spd down combination. Basically you are trading a strong tank for a slightly more defensive front line and a barely better than normal tank.
Most people keep Sakuya in her low p.def Multistrike armor, and Reimu's def isn't so great that she can survive more than 2 strong hits even with no def down. So in that case you have Youmu being the most notable improvement. If you are equipping Sakuya in updated non specific armor she is going to survive 2-3 hits with def down, or 4 with no def down both are way more than necessary to survive.

The only group I can think of where Hakurei has a large advantage is those eels that counter everything with lightning breath. The dragons and most other breath users are going to be shut down immediately by either blocking or status. At the same time, enemies that do strong single targets on people like the Death Fairies or Knights will still kill everyone but the tank in one shot and even the tank can't handle as much and is being targeted less on top of it.

It just seems Hakurei formation is better at survival than Hinotori Skydance, if you have a group that is able to take hits.
Hakurei formation chance of targeting:
center - 50%
2 and 3 - 17% each
4 and 5 - 8% each
Hinotori Skydance formation chance of targeting:
center - 75%
2 and 3 - 8% each
4 and 5 - 5 and 4% respectively
Sure, if you use Hakurei formation, the tank gets targeted less, but my point is the other people are fairly tough, so they can take a hit, since there is no defense drop.
Hinotori Skydance does not offer this, which I contend that a fragile group will allow Hinotori better survivability, but does not hold for a non-fragile group.
I don't really use Sakuya's multistrike armor unless it was when I first craft it. That 10% chance of multistrike is not worth the major defense drop.
Both formations get pre-defend. Hinotori Skydance gets speed drop + defense buff for the tank, which will help the pre-defend effect. However, this is in contrast of the painful defense drop for your other characters.
I did not say much about breath attacks, because I think breath attacks ignore quite a bit of defense, so defense drop or not would not matter too much against a breath attack. The worries are mainly AoE non-breath physicals and the off-chance your other characters targeted.

>>7981285
Oh, if Alice is in my group, then I tend to use formations that I can Marrionette Parrar effectively in. Like Scarlet Moon, Sunshine Lunch, Free Fight, etc. Poison Shield is great too for even more survivability. But if you want damage, it's Scarlet Moon.

Okay, so I'm on stage 14 (or 15, whichever is Bhava-agra) and I've run around hitting switches and getting keys and whatnot, and I've got one gold key (the last one I think) and I know where the door is.

Only problem is this one electric barrier suddenly popped up towards the beginning of the level (directly to the left of the second area, i.e. if you take the top exit of the big bridge with the switch in the middle of it in the first area) and now I can't get to the door anymore. I've spent at least an hour or two running all over the entire level trying to find the switch to turn it off and I'm getting nothing.

Anyone have any ideas? Is this a glitch? If so I'm fucked, my backup saves don't go far enough back anymore. It better not be the game fucking up, I sank a good 50 hours into it so far and at least 5-10 of that was grinding autism skills with Satori.

She was useful as a support+damage unit, but talking damage only... You need the +40% learning damage, and +30 matk to be good. By choosing staff you lose a decent IND boost, and scan.
With those points Patchy can also have +20% ele damage, +25% magical ele str, +20% non card damage, +20 m. atk with a massive mp pool and near magic immunity. You also have the choice between +30 m. atk on staves or some massive speed boosts magical mastery.

I also used Satori for the main game because like most people on /jp/ the thought of missing learned skills I could have had for free is just too much.

Satori doesn't "suck", but she seems heavily overrated in these threads. She's basically a well-rounded character (albeit with god-awful survivability) that can play support roles well. She doesn't really excel at anything.

Sanae is a better healer/buffer, Byakuren is a better debuffer/buffer, Patchy/Marisa are better magic DDs (especially when they start getting their 80+ spells), and so on. She can still be useful in multiple occasions, such as the times when you need an extra debuffer or someone that can heal without having Sanae's horrid lack of offensive abilities. It's a shame that it's so lengthy and tedious to get her to learn a decent set of skills though.

Byakuren's buffs (save for the Scroll 25 one) aren't as great as you might think, either. I barely notice the difference between hers and Sanae's, but Sanae can buff all 3 of my physical attackers at once. With Wind of Miracles on top of that I actually get better damage than I do with Amp Scroll + Weapon Bless.

Byakuren's buffs are decent (IIRC +33% vs +20%), but her debuffs are massive. As an example you can make the first sister do 0 damage on all attacks, or make Yuugi miss 15/16 hits or more. Her best buffs by far are the weapon enchants, not the stat buffs because they allow you to both hit weak points and have land effects.

For bosses one character doing massive damage is much better than 3 characters doing good damage, that would be where having Byakuren's attack buff shines, especially since Sanae has way too many skills to use one turn on an all party attack buff unless you plan on bringing 2 healers. She is much better suited to using Miracle and setting up the defensive side of things, or an ACC buff if you need it. In random battles Byakuren is useful for the minibosses, but not great for groups. Her scroll buff is +10%

Satori's best damage abilities are bombs and they are way too good. Before the expansion her use is limited to procing chasers, a mix of support abilities, and some debuffs, but her IND isn't really high enough to take advantage of them. Basically a bad character for the main game and a good character in the post game. She is a bit overhyped because you can make her do 99k damage which several characters can do. She also has access to the Meltdown type debuff if that is the only reason you are using Byakuren.

The only fight where I ever found this to be true was the last boss of the main game. Youmu with the Foreign God slaying sword/attack buff/dark element buff killed it with one SC. Byakuren's elemental buffs are great, no doubt, but the opponent has to have a very glaring weakness to the element to take advantage of it. Most bosses only have a minor weakness to one element, or none at all.

You don't need to grind at all for Satori. Even with only her skills, she works. Poison Art does good damage, about 400-500 per turn mid game. If you went Trauma route, you should almost always be able to land it.
Bondage Art, Stupefy, and Art of Chaos shut down enemies that are scary as hell. Though, these don't land as often as I would like.
If you did not get Enervation, you learn something else similar to it. Collapse Art allows you to also shut down physical enemies. This is if you went the Id route. None of these skills require any farming as you get them on level ups.
Later in the game, Satori's chance to land stuff surpasses Byakuren's, so she could be your main status inflicter. She can land petrify with Petro Breath on even enemies at stage 21.

Her scroll buff is kind of unimpressive though, it feels kinda weak to me, but it is a buff all, so it is useful. Of course, let's not forget her healing, it is better than Reimu's healing. Her magic damage is also pretty high and she can give your people elemental weapons. Very useful when fighting those Machine Dragons that I am currently trying to farm to get that High Ribbon. Right now I'm using her as a buffer, so zero points in IND.

It had very high shock prevention and some electric resistance). Shock classifies as a "quick" status effect, so protection accessories for that will help too. Besides that your setup seems to be fine.

They are 25-50% and bosses tend to have very high stats, if that isn't noticeable I don't even know what to say.
Also I just did 20 hits on weakest 0 def monsters got average of 980 normal, 1350 miracle+patk up, 1600 weapon bless.
Testing on Mokou (naked 96pdef) with -all, -def, -pdef defending showed the same with 260, 340, 410.

IND is not the only factor: Petro Breath has a 100% land rate, most of her debuffs are 50-60%. Byakuren's are 70-80%. To top it off, a few learning skills give the target a bonus on their res like mindblast. Pre-stage 21 normal mobs are so easy there is little point wasting a round unless you can hit the ones that matter. In most cases Sanae's buffs actually work better.

You have to be counting your tank (Youmu, Mokou or Remilia I'm guessing) as an attacker. You are also forgetting the land bonus: even if they are barely weak the land bonus adds quite a bit. Skills have both a strength (atk mult) and an amp (after def mult). You don't get enough accessories to stack 3 attackers, even 2 is pushing it.

>>7984259
Ind gives you slightly more duration on your buffs, but more importantly what else are you going to put the points in? For the main game 20 in support and 10 in status should be your top priorities. Casting up to CD-1 is nice, but even with maxed great magic her damage isn't even decent unless you are stacking land against a boss.

I see, I did not realize IND affects buff duration. I can't land most of Byakuren's stuff on stage 21 enemies, so I don't see the point of putting points in the IND tree.
That and induction items are kind of limited, so if I intended one person to do debuff, they will be carrying the +60 IND item.
It is safer for me to designate her to buff/healing/damage duties at this stage. Especially when I face those stupid Knights that do some drain sword attack that hurts. I have to kill them with Light magic before they own me.

Hyper Trigger, and if you have time, land RES down. Every debuff will land without fail, especially if you're rolling in IND.

I rely on my Byakuren way too much. I'm having trouble with the final boss because my Mages don't put out enough damage, and even though my Youmu and Sakuya can both deal 15k damage in a single turn once Byakuren finishes preparing (Sakuya deals a lot more when she goes into Private Square with all her buffs, even without double procs), Lithos Vortex completely shuts me down.

By time I win, all her mana is gone. I might try using both Sanae's and Byakuren's +RES at the same time (They stack) to prevent this. This is why previously I asked if Byakuren's just been spoiling me (>>7983240). Is 400-1400 (after land power/weakness) magic damage from my mages too little for the final boss? My Sakuya also cannot land a single attack without Byakuren, and strangely she's not even that far behind my crit Youmu in raw ACC stat.

>> No.7984738

>>7984690
I'd also like to add almost every boss I've faced (cept Tenshi and Kaguya) had been rendered useless by my Byakuren (with help from Mokou/Sanae since she's always doing so much).

I've only had to switch in Raymoo for Tenshi, and I never used Alice. If they're physical, Sanae buffs EVA while Byakuren debuffs ACC. If they relied on on debuffs, I'd face punch/RES up until Byakuren was ready to land her IND/RES down. Highly evasive bosses got the same treatment. If find out the bosses weakness and enchant my DPS with it, and throw my on some single target buffs for extra damage.

I can't fathom how anyone can say she's not that useful. She lets me burst whole life bars in 2 turns, without worrying about taking any damage at all. I will not lie, I may be ignorant in the ways of other characters, but I don't see how anyone can do her job better.

Switch to Slash of Eternity, moving to the Manussya tree if necessary. Spring wind is pretty crappy when used against a single target. Uh, that's a lost of 2 turns. Is RES down guaranteed to hit, because if it isn't, you lost 2 turns with the rest of your party trying to carry Byakuren. I've tried scroll + hyper trigger on stage 21 fights and gave up when I realize the odds of debuffing are not high enough to be worth the trouble.
Of course, two turns isn't hard if you have Alice defending you, but if you don't, then two turns means Byakuren or another party member can randomly get killed. Byakuren has 6 skills, so if 3 of them, Hyper Trigger, Scroll, and RES down are used, you have 3 slots left.

>>7984833
This also means that characters with already good MAttack benefit more from each INT point. This means that character's with higher base MAttack(I think Reimu has high base MAttack or seems like it), with lots bonuses to MAttack, like Byakuren's growth trees, benefit a lot from each point of INT.
What I am trying to say is if you character's growth tree has more MAttack bonuses, give them +INT items, while if your character does not have as much MAttack bonuses in her growth tree, give them +MAttack items.

I guess you can get 200 IND? The best I could get is 194 without the last +15 IND item. I need it for either the Muscle Belt(survival) or Ghost Cat Tail(anti-paralysis) against Queen Flayer group.

Even if you equip a shield, it won't affect your status.
Shield status bonuses are only applied on a successful block.
"Breath Reduction" "☆ Petrification" effects will only work when the shield is equipped.
Shields will block certain attacks at a set percentage.
Attack types that shields can block are displayed like this: [Fire Water Earth Electric Slash Pierce Crush]
○ and △ have no effect on resistance. ○ indicates an increase in evasion chance to the element, △ indicates a decrease.
When a shield activates and blocks something, defense will be increased by the corresponding number.
An EVA 50 PDEF 100 MDEF 75 shield will activate at a 50% rate, increasing PDEF by 100 (against physical attacks) and MDEF by 75 (against magical attacks).
Shields will not activate if a two-handed weapon (or skill, like casting magic) is being used to attack.
Magic users mainly use magical attacks, so they probably won't benefit much from a shield.

1. Get Sakuya's 3 slayer sword (Arodnight or something), Mokou's Silence fists (Magnum Fists?), Marisa's strongest broom (unless you've already made one before this) and Nitori's 3 slayer gun (Carbine I think).

2. Your first team will have an advantage stacking Marisa, Patchouli and Nitori. Use Fire/Lightning skills and chase with Nitori. Sonic Stream should help ensure you act before anything else does.

3. The second team should stack Mokou, Youmu, Sakuya and Alice. Sakuya will 1-2 hit nearly everything on their side, while Mokou can shut up any caster with Mach Punch. I went with Luna Dial formation and had Alice use Marionette Parrar on the front row.

This leaves you with Reimu, Sanae, Aya, Byakuren and Satori to assign. I had Reimu healing the physical party since her heals can be AoE and remove permanent debuffs. Sanae and Byakuren I had in my magic group, though neither did much until I got to Tewi, in which I had Sanae EVA up -> RES up -> MATK up and Byakuren Hyper Trigger -> ACC/whatever the other thing is down -> PDEF/MDEF down.

Also, I'd suggest having the magic group attack Tewi (reach their goal first), and the physical group attack Reisen (reach goal second). Formations that may help are Kappa Camouflage for the magic group (Tewi has shit accuracy, may as well take advantage of it) and either Freefight or stay with Luna Dial on the physical group (depends on whether your Alice has the 10 mp skill to cover all allies regardless of where they are. If she doesn't, go with Freefight)
Aya and Satori I had as commanders

Aya and Satori I had as commanders, though it really doesn't matter who you assign to which group. I went with Aya on magic group to use Perfect Dodge until I got my buffs/debffs up while Satori just spammed her deflection skill on my physical group every turn.

As for Inner Eintei, still working on it. Probably going to use Alice, Mokou/Sakuya, Sakuya/Nitori, Marisa, Patchouli and have Aya or Satori as commander.

>> No.7990523

>>7990237
Heh, I would unlikely have Satori as a commander, because she needs to be in the fight to have a chance, no matter how minor, of randomly learning skills. She also helps out with damage by using Poison Art.

>>7989315
Adding to that poster a minor thing to avoid some confusion, as I was confused reading that. If a shield has a special ability, like solid Star vs Poison or Petrification, it will work as long as you wear it.
This means that the effect is active even if you are using a two-handed weapon, like Sakuya's weapon.
For example, if Sakuya is using the Hydra shield(solid Star Poison protection), she will be immune to poison, even while using a two-handed sword.

Outer Eientei is a matter of being careful and splitting your party properly (magical for right side and physical for left side), as I see it. The magical team still had a bit of trouble, but oh wow the physical team simply destroyed everything that got in their path. I didn't even use Sakuya's beast-slaying sword, but everything was dying hilariously quickly on that side.
I agree, though, that place is horrible and I don't ever want to go back in there again. Even if the best thing to grind on for Steel is the metal turtle, it's simply not worth it. enjoy your damage net hahaha do you want to escape too bad tentacle time

Iku was pretty easy after I set the land to earth and used Patchouli's spell card, even though my master plan of endowing Sakuya's weapon with dark element didn't work because Byakuren kept getting shocked and insta-killed.
Still, just reading the wiki on Bhava-agra is making me upset... maybe I should leave it for later. I know I'm going to spend a long time on Tenshi, oh yes I will. By the way, I know that I should not use any field spells, but are Patchu's Active Elemental (or Void Spirit, at least) safe to use?

Marionette Parrar at max Manipulation tree has a 100% chance to activate. However, it can only activate a certain amount of times in one turn (seven I believe). So if you get hit with a double breath attack the second is going to hit a couple people.

Just finished Inner Eintei this morning. Wasn't that bad when I just decided to give up on ever debuffing them since, if I didn't use Hypnotic Ballet, my Byakuren couldn't debuff the broadside of a barn. Maybe her +25 IND weapon would have helped but I'm saving my generic mats for these character armors that are supposed to cost two character specific stuff, though I have yet to see any of them in the synthesis menu.

Used Freefight, Alice opening with Phalanx Doll, then spam Marionette Parrar, Sanae keeping PDEF up, ACC up, PATK up and MDEF up, Mokou using Honest Man's Death until out of bombs, then Mach Punch, Sakuya Colesso World whenever it ends, then spamming her 3 hit attack, and Marisa specced into lasers and spamming, well, lasers. Probably should have had Satori or Aya as commander since their one bomb skills are more useful than any of the other choices.

I tried to bruteforce Kaguya and Eirin, but Kaguya's defense buff was too much for me, so I went with the easymodo option of controlling her. Still managed to pull those fun elemental combos on Eirin just for the hell of it, though, and almost ended the fight by making Kaguya shoot herself.

Anyway, this test run of Bhava-agra didn't seem as bad as the wiki says it is for me. I doubt I've covered even half of the monsters there, but it should be enough for me to form a nice strategy to deal with that place tomorrow.
Also Elite Mind Flayers cannot into Neo-Hakurei and Sanae's RES buff, it's beautiful. Take that you squidfuckers.

Just shook Tenshi's epicenter without any trouble at all, after failing many times, simply because I remembered to put a Continental Shield on Alice. What the hell. Didn't even really need to spam Mystery Spectrum, in fact I was taking more damage with that than with Marionette Parrar. On the offensive side, I had Sakuya and Youmu spamming stuff while Byakuren buffed them and endowed their weapons with Dark element, and Reimu pretty much didn't do anything.
In hindsight, I didn't even need to get Great Maid, as I was apparently already dealing enough damage to her while not taking much damage thanks to Alice. Also, I didn't even see Tenshi use Petro Breath, so maybe getting that sword was a good idea after all.

Dunno about that picture, but I usually use Reisen as my big hitter. Pdef down, meltdown, debilitate, +2 filler (ind down, spd down from mokou, usually) with Byakuren's attack up, amp scroll, and en-x is usually enough to do max.

Yeah I've heard of that. I'm at the final boss now but I'm just not dealing enough damage with my secondary party to get through the first fight without calling in my main party, and wasting bombs/mana that should be used for the second one.

I was thinking if I could get my mokou to deal even a quarter of the damage of that then it should be pretty easy, but looking at what I need its impossible I suppose.
