I seriously don't know why any sane person would even try smoking, since it only has negative effects.
If you can live without the urge to smoke, why should anyone try it, in order to waste money?

I also think that many people only start because of social reasons, so /jp/ isn't really concerned about that.

>But if you smoke indoors like a barbarian, all your figures and plushies will smell and become discoloured.
Smoking indoors in general is disgusting. I think it's nice to enjoy killing yourself slowly every once in a while, but smoke in your room and suddenly the whole place smells like cigarettes forever. It's fucking gross. I don't see how even someone who enjoys smoking could enjoy their home reeking of it.

but for losers like us who don't have real reasons to go outside, it's a nice excuse to enjoy the darkness. nighttime smoking > daytime

>> No.7973930

>>7973912
I honestly started it to have a reason to go outside once in a while.

And I get your point, but drinking Dr. Pepper and eating junkfood while sitting on your ass all day is 10 times worse than having a cigarette now and then.
I mean, don't start smoking on my account, just don't criticise those who do.

>> No.7973933

>>7973912
If it has only negative effects than no one would smoke. It actually does a damn good job at calming you down when you're stressed, which is why so many soldiers pick up smoking, and some people actually like the taste. There's a reason it's been used for thousands of years, and it's not because the god of tobacco made it a social ice breaker.

I smoke something every once in a while probably every few months though I don't like most cigarette brands that people chain smoke. For me personally, I would never make it a habit because the smell is disgusting, it costs a bit of money, and it doesn't have any obvious benefit to me.

The smell of most cigs is really bad, but unfortunately most smokers are desensitized to it. Probably the main reason I hate the smell is because my mother used to blow smoke in my face for the first 10 years of my life because she knew I hated it and liked seeing me cry.

>> No.7974742

Surprised more of /jp/ doesn't smoke, as it's usually some frustrated way of expressing distaste with the status quo these days, as the majority looks down upon it so much. I smoke because it gives me 5-10 minutes at a time to completely let go of everything, and a lot of times the free-association train of thought helps me come up with all kinds of shit, problem solving, story ideas, whatever. To each their own though, I try to be considerate with my secondhand and I expect non-smokers to just keep their self-righteousness to themselves as long as my smoke isn't affecting them.
