I was just wondering, is there any site with "how to (dis)assemble" info regarding most released figures?

It isn't rare that I get my hands on a new cast off figure and have no clue what to do to get rid of the protective plastic (and clothing).

Harumi Kouno Love Motion: Looks like I should pull the upper body upwards, but it feels scary. It is obviously loose, but not so loose that slight pulling helps.

Those Who Invites To The Maids Airi: Can't get the top body off. It opens on one side, but the other side is stuck to the arm. The arm didn't seem detachable, so I didn't want to pull and find out.

Original Character Raquel GOTHIC: Can't figure out how to remove the skirt. It seems like I should pull it up, but the bulges on the body connector prevents it. Pulling down would get problems with the bent legs.

So far I've only managed to break one model by force, and I'd like to keep it that way. (Balljoint head where the ball broke due to not pulling straight enough. Apparently it was slightly sideways I was pulling compared to the stick)

Remember that figs are actually made of several PVC pieces that are assembled after painting, and that putting on their clothes is a part of assembling process. If you want to take off their clothes, you'll usually have to disassemble them first.

Try to figure out where the seams are and take the fig apart as much as possible.
It's almost universal rule that the head comes off (unless it's been glued). If she's wearing a long or medium skirt, most likely you can split the torso in two (skirt is too rigid to be pulled up over hips). Also, arms or hands tend to be inserted into sockets which they can be wiggled out of.

That being said, some figures actually come with instructions on how to (dis)assemble them. Orchid Seed's Arhes Ney (see image) and Alters's Fate figs have it, for instance.

That is impossible, the clothing and the body are the same mold, they are not going to sculpt the arms to then cover then in sleeves, the sleeve IS the arm and there is nothing underneath it.

Some people do recasts with a naked body but that is pretty sculpting a new mold.

Finally got my Alter Minna... Canadian customs held it ransom once again.

As expected, it is much, much nicer than my other Minna fig. The paint job on the gun was especially nice.

Alter's Merry is looking excellent, and that Horizon chick looks pretty nice (although I can't get all that enthusiastic about a character that I know next to nothing about, even if she does have a butt like that). Speaking of spending massive amounts of money on superfluous things, getting $3.4k compensation payout soon, planning to spend all of it on figs.

I've probably spent a few thousand on anime figures, yea... I lost track. But I have an equally useless collection of starwars stuff, and one summer I spent about $1000 on assorted fish artwork (don't ask).

I have an aunt who spent a small fortune on the Princess Dianna royal wedding collectibles. Limited edition commemorative plates, dolls, silverware... all kinds of equally pointless shit. I used to tease her about it, but now I collect equally strange things.

Some argue even my firearm collection is impractical since I live in Canada and will never use them for anything relevant. Why do I have a 10.5" AR-15 with a holographic reflex site? It is a truly impractical toy.

This is what I hate the most about cast-off figures that use tight fitting painted PVC clothing. But they do look better than the hard plastic break away clothing.

My Max Factory pachira cast-off is especially bad for this... that dress is on tight. As it slides off there is a point of contact on her ribs where some paint transfers.

I have a Kanokon figure where this happens as well.

Yeah, definitely a different sense of perspective than the illustration. At its most basic the body is a bit further clockwise relative to the mechanical stuff, although I think the legs and maybe ears have a bit more difference besides that.

Hair could stand to be more grey and have a lot more contrast but it's still nice.

I think someone needs to take the gloss finish away from GSC. The Homura fig is still very nice looking though.

That pretty much sums it up, some sites are in a position to dictate and don't care if they make transactions. In short, they know they're wanted.

In similar fashion, Newegg won't ship outside of America, and refuses to ship to proxy addresses/services, making it a pain in the ass to order PC parts for a sane price.

If you're selling all of the stock you can carry, there is no reason to bother with the trouble and expense of international sales.
