I met some of them in real life, I've played games with them and lisited to them talk on voIP stuff, like everywhere in life, theres people that are normal, good and decent. And then theres people that expect too much, act like they're better then everyone else or are just plain retarded or actually sick.

So /jp/ is very diverse. But one thing seems to be consistent, we're all mostly failures. Some skiped school, some had some shit happen to them in real life, some take tons of time to complete college or actually drop out with no home for life.

I for one don't get the super loud music, drinking alcohol till you can't stand and being all "This is the best night ever".

I don't like not remembering what I did last night, I don't like taking in substances that change my behavior artificially, I don't like loud music, I don't like crowds.

I'd rather be with 3~4 people watching anime, playing games or just drinking tea/juice and taking about life and stuff. I have way more fun when people are sober and we can have conversations or debates instead of when they're drunk and "free"...

Many /jp/ers have this really bizarre intolerance of people who have a social, work, or sex life and for some reason become extremely hostile when an interest in visual novels, touhou, or figurines are appreciated by people who aren't identical to them in every respect.

I think it's because many people on the board are used to being hated or ostracized by anyone with those other traits, so it leads to this "hate them before they hate me" mentality.

It could be because many of these hobbies and sites are used as a sort of safe space to retreat into, and you get a lot of psychotic reactions when there is any difference of opinion.
