I'd say 12 Monkeys, 2001, Fight Club, Blade Runner and various David Lynch movies did a lot better in the DEEP department than any anime I can think of.

I just downloaded this game recently, and it keeps crashing in the Candle World after about 10 seconds, and occasionally in other places as well.

Fuck you dude. I went to watch Blade Runner and it turned out to be a complete waste of time. Pacing was bad, the plot was incoherent at times, and there was no "deep" concepts whatsoever that warranted even a minute of thinking.

The science and tech is somewhat whacky, enhancing on a 5 inch screen, electron microscopy-like on a street vendor, etc, but I can forgive seeing that it was made in 1982.

The plot is horrible, why would Tyrell have such lax security, he couldn't afford a single guard or a camera in the elevator? He expected the replicants which were targetted for death to come for him, but not want to kill him? I'm not even going into the completely unprofessional way Tyrell Corp employees carry out their work.

But let's move on to the main focus, the DEEP element. The novel concepts I can extract from this movie are..... nothing. Androids with emotions/feelings, covered much much better in Asimov robot stories. Not that the movie made much attempt to delve into it, the focus was still to kill them in the end. Aiding an enemy against your allies because they helped you, overly done concept, nothing to be amazed about. That's about it.

Lastly, the action elements are pretty terrible. If your pulse returns to baseline halfway through an action scene, then it's no longer an action scene.
