Yup, you can make an iTunes account for Japan to get Japan only apps, like Jubeat (which is a lot harder on iPhone since it's smaller)

You can buy Japanese iTunes point cards though if you want credit on the Japanese account. I don't really find that much to buy with mine though apart from some songs that are only available on their iTunes.

I've been waking up to Nayuki for years now, I simply recorded the alarm clock clip from the game onto my phone. It's weird, you'd think that after a while the voice would start to be associated with having to wake up, and thus begin to elicit a negative reaction in the same way an alarm clock buzzer does... but this never really happened for me. Screwing around with it, the sound.zip generated by the conversion program was the batch of voice files. Unzipping them and putting them in the regular sound directory probably would've worked, but the program freezes up after 55% initialization (28,000 files would do that, I guess).

By being linked to gree.jp, the largest japanese social networking site apparently, it restricts registrations to those that have a mail account with the 3 large japanese cellphone carriers. Which you can only get by buying a phone.
And I think it would be too much to try to get someone in Japan to donate their mail as it would be the equivalent of lending your facebook account, I think.

I'll keep looking around for an alternative, but I doubt we can get around this arbitrary lock.
