Well, we know it is probably an at least decent game with gameplay (since he has always translated gameplay titles, and they have been decent). Farther more, we have a the code name "Project Thunder Mutt" which probably could be used to narrow down a list of titles. Regardless though, it appears that it has been worked on for a while, because his team has racked up 177 posts in 6 topics, which is more posts at least than the public Eternal Lovers forum.

>I did start working on something else during the times I needed a break from the saccharine speeches about hearts. Depending on how you measure it, I’m somewhere between 6,000 and 20,000 lines in (and with a very loose definition of ‘line’) and have most of the interface finished, although its scripts have the special quality of not having speakers marked and being sorted by in-game location instead of anything sensical, so any given script will have scenes from across the entire game with random scenes from the middle of other events jammed in at random places. It’s… a special brand of fun, rife with mistakes and misattributions… not to mention full of English 101 level narrative mistakes at times because it’s kind of terribly written… but I do really like the game and the nature of some of the work has let me have a lot of fun completely ignoring what was there to write whatever I want instead, which is new and exciting. And would probably make the fanbase cry for my blood, so ha HA! The game-script itself is only a little larger than EL’s (not counting all the duplication), but given how busy I expect fall will be for me, I don’t expect to be finished before next spring or so.

So far I really like it. The characters are all really fun to watch (except Coco, who I loathed until the finale), their interactions are really entertaining.

I think that they really should have scattered the story of the past and the story of the present and mixed them a bit more, rather than having a large block go to the story of the past. The way it is presently, it feels more like an interruption.

But it's just a really fun travel/adventure/romance story and the Coco route is fun. I wish they had just added a different less cutesy character to take her function. Or removed her from the story entirely because she sucks.

But overall, I like it. Be patient with the story of the past and how it is slow for a long time, CTRL few any scene where Coco grates on you too much, and you'll enjoy it.

As an addendum, there is one really annoying part of the story.

Dolls are basically useless and don't do anything that great in terms of serving a purpose that would warrant huge political intrigue. It's almost ridiculous that anyone would really fight over them or that they would be so central to the story as they lack real and meaningful utility. They should have added some story elements that made arguing about dolls actually meaningful.

Easily forgiven because the plot is still enjoyable and the characters are really really well executed.

No, you are right there. But even with the discovered region, there still isn't enough. They sort of just "go out of fashion" in the present time and there isn't enough interest to have more doll engineers. It seems like it's basically a dead industry.

Basically, it would be like a government saying "Screw agriculture, industrialization, and military.... we're investing in theater!"

A political fantasy. I can't imagine what the guy giving the "Doll Arts" budget speech says at meetings.

Ein: "Alright, so we are a small nation caught in between two powerful nations, we are not agriculturally self sufficient, our borders are filled with bandits, and our largest castle has five guards.... why dolls?"

Doll Advocate: ".... Moe."

Age offered Kimi ga Nozomu Eien but not MuvLuv, I understand the reasoning as its "sort off" a prequel to MuvLuv but its not what Ixrec was work on now is it?

Its not like MangaGamer had acquired the license and Ixrec gone ahead and released the patch, presuming that Ixrec would sit down and wait for Age to given MangaGamer their OK is foolish ..

Oh yeah, Protips:

1) You can ctrl through all of coco's lines in Wakaba's route other than the lines in Shirogane.

2) You can skip all of the picnic/feast/meal chapters in the Redwall series by Bryan Jacques, unless you see a series of capital letters or poetry lines on a page.

3) You can skip the emo section of Harry Potter 5 . You can also skip the epilogue of 7.

4) You can ctrl through all cooking scenes in FS/N.

People who whine about CTRLing through portions of VNs are generally people who lack an understanding of when it is meritorious.

If you have a REALLY good conception of how works are executed and why a scene is where it is, you can ctrl through scenes when you know their point and they are being slow in executing it.

Coco is a shit character. She's not even really a character. She's a plot device with a speech impediment in a cutesy cutesy little mascot form. She's a crutch used by the Japanese when they can't write something smart or compelling.

And yes, I am "blessed" with an ability to "get" foreshadowing, to the point where I already understand conclusions of works that have already begun.

When the LOST finale Aired, I was with my girlfriend. About 10-30 seconds before things happened, I predicted what would happen, the whole way through.

She stared at me in shock. I knew the brand of a candybar that wouldn't fall from a machine. I knew all kinds of really random elements.

It's not because I'm psychic. Or magic. Or a genius. It's because I know storytelling really really really well. It's because I know what is logically necessary for a story to be told, that I can grasp these things intuitively .

I'll put this another way. If you can't deduce the culprit in a mystery novel, the novel falls apart.

Any good novel gives facts that allow further anticipation possible. Any good beginning has seeds of its ending. Foreshadowing must be done for a story to remain grounded.

So, this is sort of an interesting point.

I'll put it this way. Some people like "Slice of Life" or "Calvin and Hobbes" stories, because it is something familiar. It reminds them of coming home. Or being with their mother.

For me, when I returned to my house, I didn't know what I would find there. My step brother was dead. My step father was violent.

I called the police once with my nose bleeding. A divorce followed.

But I read. A lot. A lot. A ton.

Anyways. In reading, in reading a lot, you can see things that proceed other things as a logical necessity. Expound that.

Reread the previous paragraph a thousand times. Enough to make you forget about a family member's death or your fear of getting hit.

Or dying.

So what you get, is a confrontation with your own finitude.

I am going to die.
I am going to die (and I've seen it. And I know it.)

So that leaves me with... what.

It leaves me with both an imperative to Live Fully And a desire to laugh at the stupidity and fluff that surrounds meaning while I appreciate the best of it.
