The knives she shoots aren't that hard to dodge (stay down). Then just look where the lasers are going to pop up, slide past them and try going to her left side, there's more spirits there, quickly shoot her for a bit and run down after she starts glowing again, rinse and repeat.

I don't know if it was very common, but my ver 1.00a crashed right before the EX boss's final spellcard, and after starting the game again, the people I beat the game with didn't have access to the extra stage, except Reimu. The patch was seriously useful.

Clear the game using as many continues as it takes. When you're done, practice the spellcards and/or stages in (spell) practice mode.

Actually, also beat Hard and Lunatic with continues and practice those cards. If you can clear most of the cards on Lunatic in spell practice (and you will), Normal will be easy enough.

In IN Spell Practice felt like an actual minigame, like Shoot the Bullet bolted onto a regular touhou game. In TD it sadly feels like just what the name says, a practice mode... Better than nothing I guess.

Patch 1.00c won't work on mine.

Probably because I downloaded TD in a .zip with about 8 files in it. Patch says something about th13.dat (which I have) and then stops working.

Yes I do have it in Japanese locale, I always do.

I think I've had this problem before, where directories' ''\'' symbol gets replaced with the yen symbol and sometimes messes up some install programs.

Spell practice is nice, but for TD knowing the stage layout is more important than what it was for IN (and there's more stuff to learn). You can't practice spirit farming spots or when to Trance for resources or score in spell.

Yes, it came back because too many people whined about the difficulty of SA and UFO, so ZUN made the game super easy, re-added spell practice and game resuming on continue.

well i just went into it with some knowledge of the stages from doing all four easy mode


the problem came when spell cards started to change... like that zig zag arrow one i mentioned. i thought i was going to die for sure and have my finger on the bomb key

last boss was easier than some of the other things i had to do, i only really had problem with the nonspells

Listen up, don't wait for the bullets to come towards you so you can try and dodge them. Try finding gaps when they're still away from the bottom of the screen/your position. This is the easiest Touhou so far and I can safely say so because it's the only one that I managed to 1cc on Normal on my first-ish try, and it had been half a year since I last played an STG (TD Demo).

Also don't be afraid to bomb, and when you run out of bombs, press C instead when needed.

I'm awful at Touhou games, but in TD I've been able to play through normal pretty much never dying until I got to zig-zag arrow-shooting Boss. Then I lose like every life, and end up having to continue. But if you were able to do it, then I feel like I can too.

This game is easy as fuck. I Normal 1cc'd all the ship types on release day, and there were many on here who did extra that day too.

If this is hard for you, go play shmupmame until you are good at these types of games.

Spell practice enabled me to beat mamizou while eliminating the tedium of playing an entire stage just to practice a card.

I'm looking at you Koishi.
