Lets have a thread for old eroges and how misleading they were!

I played DESIRE expecting Tina to fight giant monsters.

Translated titles

DESIRE: http://vndb.org/v151

Divi-Dead: http://vndb.org/v119

Eve: Burst Error: http://vndb.org/v147

Words Worth: http://vndb.org/v315 (Lol,giant tornado)

And that's pretty much it for translated titles

I've played Divi-Dead and Eve: Burst Error.
I wasn't particularly impressed by either of them.

Besides...

Did I miss something?

>> No.7776055

I remember playing Love Potion (Etsuraku no Gakuen) long before I knew what eroge were and being pissed off that Kyouko didn't have a proper h-scene.

Would never have guessed that I would see her again years later in Eve Burst Error... except she still didn't have a proper h-scene because the translated version doesn't have porn.

The old "interactive adventure game" format, with a sort-of parser that had commands like LOOK and TALK, vanished some time in the 90s. I dunno if anyone wants it back. It can probably be done well...

Also, I think stat-driven sims used to be common. A few are still being made in Japanese and in English. But I suspect there were more back in the 90s.

Time Stripper Mako was a hideous game.
Amy's Fantasies was a joke eroge mocking everything that C'sWare had done up until that moment.
Runaway City was decent.
Gloria had more paths and endings than you could shake a stick at. Expect surprise exams and voice acting that does not match the text is writing during the porn.

Also, Gloria is the only erogame I have ever played where you could attain a happy end without ever having sex with anybody.

Also I should note that I bought it new off the shelf in 1995 at the mall downtown, at a babagges or software etc or some other retail chain videogame store. The world has changed...

Eroge used to be advertised in PC gamer and EGM, along with adds for la Blue Girl and urotsukidoji.

In the mid 90s EGM even had a 3 page article introducing gamers to anime, and they explained all the tropes and gags:

"When someone hears a bad joke they fall on their side. When someone thinks of something perverted they get a nosebleed. And expect to see a lot of pantyshots, even in childrens shows. This is normal in Japan".

Firstly, I think it needs to be installed onto C: or perhaps it needs to be installed on a different drive. I'm sorry that I'm not being very helpful but I recall there being a problem about which drive you need to install it on. You could probably look the problem up on Google or the archive.

Secondly, I believe the game would sometimes freeze if I clicked out of the window.
