Thanks. Thing is, if Higurashi is anything to go by, it's that the guy cannot end stuff he starts. Higurashi's ending was way too happy puppies for anyone's taste, and the idea of the entire thing being caused by rabid delusions makes it worse, although SOMEWHAT believable.

Second, his best friend died in the middle of production, and I don't really think he was ever given enough time to grieve over the loss, which led to a quality drop in the writing, to an extent.

Third, the fault of the ending (pretty much encompassed in the final two episodes) has to do with the series overstaying its welcome. Ep.6 would have been a perfect ending to the series, but people inevitably would have bitched that nothing was solved and there were too many dangling threads that needed to be tied up. Those people can go fuck off since they're responsible for the "shitty ending."

Like I said, the ending, and ONLY the ending, was terrible in that it wrapped everything up in a very sloppy manner. Thing is, if you look at Ep.6 as the ending and disregard the other two, it's fine and the series ends up being very well done. People also seem to forget that before Ep. 7 and 8, the fights and stuff was entertaining, and then have complete focus on the negative aspects of it with hindsight and looking at everything ONLY in relation to the ending. Thing is, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. And Umineko as a whole was one hell of a journey, even if the destination didn't live up to the unrealistic expectations of the general reader.

>> No.7734283

This game is going to sell like shit because the Japanese, at least, absolutely fucking hate Ryukishi.

He's never going to be able to sell a game ever again after what he did by not making Higurashi again and being incapable of keeping his fat mouth shut in interviews.

Klash about translation:
>We were actually thinking about that, depending how things are going for us after Umineko is done (as a matter of fact, I and Chrono had some interest in Rewrite).
>As a matter of opinion, I'm really not thrilled by Higanbana, due to its presentation and exposure being focused on the disturbing/gloomy mood (not exactly chilling) with little to no interesting character, except the entitled character, to some degree.
>Of course, this is only based on what the manga has unfolded so far and I may be proved wrong by its release this week. That said, it is too early to tell if we are going to make another project, let alone naming the next VN.

Even VNs like FS/N, Cross Channel should be translated/revised completely in 3-4 months at most. If it takes any longer, it's fault of translators being lazy
