Newbies:
There are currently two /jp/ villages, Aokigahara and Hinamizawa.
In the character creation room, go to the guy in the corner and right-click him. He'll ask you for a hearth secret; enter 'TesuTo56' to join Aokigahara, enter 'Lemuria' to join Hinamizawa. A set of stairs to the village will then appear in the corner. It is recommended you read some beginner's guides when starting.

Have a Q65 bearcape and Q62 talisman here. I guess you ultimately decide what you want to trade.

Player of Aldwyrn here. To my fellow villagers in Hinamizawa, chances are I'm going to be on very little for the next few days to a week at most if I can help it. I've been playing this game obsessively and I honestly am starting to get burnt out because of it.

Also please don't mess with the crops surrounded by paved stone, I would like to harvest and maintain those when I do end up being on. But like I said, I won't be on much for the time being since I'm kind of burnt out.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that. Good night.

There's the prospecting skill to let you search for ore: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Prospecting

Other than that, you can just mine around if you're in a long natural cave - I've heard that you can dig up to three tiles without any risk of cave-in, so just mine a single tile to see if there's ore.

Another option is to just trespass into an abandoned mine like I'm doing.

For a real /jp/ community to work in this game, we need to become as isolated as possible. Don't even offer to trade with the other towns, just stay out of their way and if possible, keep our town's location in absolute secrecy.

Not that guy, but this game strongly emulates social systems. You truly become part of a village and you work together, and as there are multiple groups doing so, complex social interactions occur. Probably the most interesting thing I've seen so far is the bullying Aokigahara received; I've never seen bullying ever happen before on an online game between people who have never met in real life.

This entire game blurs several lines. For example, murder in any other game is just basic gameplay, and it's normal to do it. But in this game, the victim loses his entire character. In that case, is running around and killing random players a morally wrong thing to do?

>> No.7698449

>>7698407
The murderers in this game find it easy to murder because they use bots to grind their alts while their main char goes on a killing and looting spree. If he gets slain by a group of rangers who tracked his scents, he just logs into one of his alts and spends all that LP he's been grinding and repeat the process. Multiply this by about 30 and you got the RUA.

Any game that doesn't link social standing account-wide, to prevent what the other person who answered you said, is not an accurate representation of society in a microcosm.

Even criminals only get one real chance in real life. They don't get to log onto a "legit" character and rebuild their criminal one. They can pretend to be someone else, but they're just as easily outed and caught.

I didn't say it was a perfect emulation. It's imperfect, but it can closely resemble a society, especially when you look at groups of players who only or mainly use their main characters, using only alts for mining and the like.

Even linking shit account-wide wouldn't help as you could just create another account. You'd need to link it to the person itself; good luck with that.

It's very easy, actually. Dual boxers have the same IP address. Check chat logs for those characters. If one goes dark while the other is active, then it's someone using dual boxing.

You are only allowed to have one account on a whole lot of online games by the rules they specify in the EULA. They can terminate your account for not abiding that, while refunding you nothing.

They don't stop Chinese gold farming, not because they can't, but because they don't care to. Chinese gold farmers pay for accounts, just like normal people. As long as the MMO owners make real money, they don't actually care who makes unreal money.

I'd suggest going out and finding a different coloured area, you'll know it's different because there'll suddenly be trees other than fir. That sort of area has loads of fruit and mulberry trees, which makes it easier to find food.

we don't have access to much metal as we are just barely getting into it

deer are something we can deal with, albeit with a bit of effort. I've killed a few bears, so we don't really need any high q bones or bear teeth (well, you can always use more high q bones but..)

we do not have a barter stand as we are using our linens for banners and such atm

The situation is this:
In the beginning, we played in the old /jp/ village (pictured). Everything was unstructured, we had no town walls, no village claim, only a few people had personal claims, and we were right next to a river and close to other towns. Needless to say, the village was raided, and sometime later a person came by and randomly killed villagers that were online at the time.

>> No.7705824

Then came the plan to move. A bunch of people moved to a random other place, but Voile found a better place close to Iron Curtain, which IIRC is a /tg/ village? He was pointed there by a friend named Ares. Most /jp/ers then moved to the new village, Aokigahara.

>> No.7705836

Fucking ridiculous security measures.

Aokigahara was developing well, but Ares brought two (or more?) friends, Uncle Phil and SpiderK, who were less friendly than advertised.

Hinamizawa is doing decently, Silk Road and the satellite settlements seem friendly enough even to the point of kindness being a job. Last I talked to Sec, the chieftain, he found an iron node and is currently producing some decent quality iron bars.

Hark! I hail from the dead former city 7th haven!

The tale of 7th haven is a sad one. It was started up by a group of guys who wanted to try fucking about the game. We had built a large city, far off from anywhere else, near a river.

After a while Russians striked, destroying many of the 7th Haven's resources and people. The survivors build up defences and have become incredibly paranoid over time. They refused to let me, the second citizen who ever showed up at 7th haven, into any of the new camps because I was inactive. The group who were once about having fun are now about growing in power and dominating the game. But they will never succeed for there is only two players left in that group.

I implore you to becareful about getting two serious about this game, it'll make you into the thing you originally hated, a dick.

I was not here during the creation of the village, but let me pick this up from what I know of Hinamizawa.

Apparently Sec became the lawspeaker for Hinamizawa (so that means Sec is VDZ? I'm not sure, all I know is I've never seen VDZ III once, despite following his hearthfire to the village) which is close to a group named Silk Road. The village grew; and with the abandoned villages nearby their resources were bolstered from the start. Farms began to cover the earth, animals were hunted and gathered, and the people worked together to build more facilities to accommodate the flow of fresh recruits coming in at every hour. Villagers were assigned to help mentor the new players and give them jobs such as building their own houses, while the older members worked on finding higher quality resources and covering the village's needs. Then, a covered wagon bearing refugees confirmed what chat amongst the villagers had mentioned of Aokigahara's fate. On a sad note, the village's ranks grew that day by as much as the defenses had. The old keys became useless.

Hinamizawa is currently expanding, and putting more emphasis on getting the newbies to help out in the village's affairs. Most recently they've been making use of the mines, and can finally make sausage.
