Kohaku is meant to be a crazy bitch who broke early and started killing innocents because she didn't really care.
Sakura is meant to be a person who was able to hold to a prospect of happiness until it's utterly destroyed.

Not to mention that their circumstances, while similar, are really different. Hisui actively loved (and showed ) her sister, and Kohaku protected her. She then was "rescued" by Akiha at some point and Tohno dude stopped raping her (can't remember how long, probably 2 or three years at best)
Sakura was given to the Matou by her own family, Rin (apparently) didn't give a shit for years (I honestly have no idea how Rin could manage to not understand what the Matou's would do being a mage and having information), and finally she hits puberty and her "brother" started raping her. And the raping continued to very beginning of the VN.

You must've missed the part where she admitted that she didn't blame Akiha at all, but that her revenge was basically the only thing she had left to do that she thought would prove she had some purpose for existing.

She also doesn't set her final revenge into motion until Shiki shows up in front of her, acting like she never existed to him. She plainly states that if Shiki had so much as been happy to see her again, and mentioned their promise, she would've called everything off right then.

She's broken, accepts she's broken, and tries to act like she thinks damaged goods should act: take revenge on everyone remotely involved in an orgy of violence and let god sort it all out.

Which makes it all the better when the Tohno family's dirty secrets come out in earnest, she has to face the repercussions of her plot, and realizes that even when she's about to die, she still loves Akiha enough to try and save her.

It's been a while, but I believe Tohno Makihisa was killed by SHIKI, whom Kohaku let out. SHIKI's first act after being released was to kill his dad, and then disappear. Makihisa was pretty much raping her up until not long before dying. Then, SHIKI was doing the same.

What you all fail to see is the general theme of Far Side: the repercussions of past crimes come back to haunt everyone involved, even if they had no desire for them to occur. Shiki's family, at Makihisa's hands. Kohaku's abuse, at Makihisa's hands. Shiki's death at SHIKI's, SHIKI's loss of a place by Makihisa's and Shiki's actions. Akiha's link to Shiki, by saving him. It all leads up to Kohaku finally getting free of the abuse, and then mechanically deciding to let everyone have a taste of their regrets. Akiha willingly lets herself lose her humanity by sharing Kohaku's synchronization. SHIKI gives up everything to get revenge. Shiki gets a taste of everything he's lost. Hisui gets to watch, knowing that Kohaku gave up everything for her.

SHIKI dies a monster's death, Akiha gives in to her heritage, Shiki has to face his past, and Kohaku's little plot comes to its end. Shiki, though, becomes the only one to not give in to loss and regret: he forgives Kohaku, even as she's responsible for letting all the actors in her script fall into despair.

And she realizes that she's still human because of it, and tries to sacrifice herself to Akiha's rage, instead of letting Shiki be the one to go and have them fight.

Sakura, on the other hand, attempts to bring about the end of the world, herself. Hm.

Akiha's greatest offense is giving in to Kohaku's obvious manipulations and letting Kohaku draw Akiha in. She should've sent her to a psychiatrist.
