...so...just what IS up with that Tassel-thing at the end of Youmu's sword?

I mean, it could be just for girly decoration, since Xianghua of the Soul series has something similar, but it's not this massive.

if i remember correctly, in some martial arts styles, it's said that a good swordsman can wield and use a sword without the tassel ever becoming wrapped around the handle. something along those lines... here's some more youmu

i guess the idea is, with all the twisting, stabbing, slicing, and all the other movements of a sword in battle, a skilled swordsman could control their movements and balance with the sword so well that the tassel would never wrap around the sword. again, going off a faint memory of some shaolin kung fu documentary.
