the part which is detestable about tf2 is it was a cheap rip-off of tfc mostly just using the name and after a while they started releasing weapons and "randum xD" hats saying how is they were to get and it was just for fun; now it's f2p with their main income is selling packs of weapons and hats. i don't follow the lesser companies but this was a big betrayal for a lot of people.

I don't think spending money on virtual goods is dumb unless it's a completely unreasonable amount of money. You can get a hat for $10. That's a reasonable amount of money, considering the game is now free.
