well, sure I'm not the biggest VN expert on /jp/, but probably your best bet is type-moon stuff. Tsukihime and fate are the first VNs for most people, and romance isn't surely the only theme.

My recommendation is that you don't get into this medium. I'm completely serious. You'll have a hard time finding anything that you'll like and then we'll have another person on /jp/ calling all VNs shit yet still playing them despite knowing its not the medium for them.
