This game is pretty impossible to clear properly without a walkthrough and not having the freedom to choose whatever you want in your first playthrough kills part of the fun.

It's like, guy likes girl, girl likes guy's friendship but is going out with someone else. Totally normal, he'd just have to move on.

NTR would be something like guy likes girl, girl likes guy, but girl also gets gangraped by someone else and ends up liking getting gangraped more than guy

I'm rather dense and this can be interpreted in multiple ways, but do you think Toko found peace? Her request is fulfilled by Reiji uncovering the mysteries of her past and identity, but she never herself found out. The last thing she leaves behind is her painting that to me symbolized her freedom from her 'untrue' self. Still to the end whether or not she died (as her condition wouldn't let her live long anyway) she was, I believe, still lonely.

>> No.7591196

>>7591169

I'd say she pretty much died when she got run over. She was doped up on so many pain killers afterwards, that everything would pretty much be a blur.

But you know, if it's inevitable that she's going to die, I think it's good that Reiji fulfilled her request for her. It's like closing a case for the family after the murderer kills their child. While she might have died lonely, Reiji did all that he could for her.

I kind of consider the ending where you team up with the policeman and have limbless-but-Alive toko there to be the 'good' end, but I don't remember much about that ending, I played it second. I'd have to reread it.

Imagine you have someone you fell in love with, on top of a few loose ends you want to know the answer to. While it is a lot more restricting movement wise, it's not like she's brain dead or anything.

This was mentioned in another thread, but the idea of an ending where toko survives as an amputee, Reiji learns about her past and tells her, she finished the painting, and then dies happily would be the most appealing to me as a true ending.

At last, finished Cartagra. Great game, although there is too many twists within twists in the last part, I had to read some sentences several times to understand them. Also, I didn't like the Shirakawa Nanaka that they pulled there.
All in all, I liked it better than Kara no Shoujo. The bad ends are very violent and disgusting but there are happy ends too.

I don't get how reading KnS spoils Cartagra by knowing that Kazuna is pregnant like some anon said threads ago.

Do other Innocent gray games follow the same pattern? Gruesome murders, a murderer is caught mid game but the the real culprit is still running around: a crazy artist uses mutilation as tool/inspiration for his works. And some infodumping by the end.

>Do other Innocent gray games follow the same pattern?
No. Pianissimo and Caucasus are really different in that sense.
Caucasus only has one culprit you catch during the main final climax (but there are endings where other -innocent- characters take the blame instead)..
And Pianissimo is like, you hook up with the main heroine go on romantic date with her, have sex with her in the evening and you find her in the bed by your side with a knife plunged in her heart, and blood everywhere, including all over you. Then the game is about whether you committed this murder (and the hooker girl half an hour into the game), or you are just being framed by someone.
>I don't get how reading KnS spoils Cartagra
As I said before it's like when Yura is pretending to be Kazuna right after Yaginuma comes and saves the day, you know that Kazuna is not blind in KnS, therefore the girl with the bandage can't be Kazuna. Twins pretending to be their other twins is cliche anyway, there are so many of those I don't even raise an eyebrow at those anymore.
>>7592462

Indeed. It was so obvious that I couldn't believe it at the beginning and hoped that they only made it look that way with the real twist still coming, but it really was that shallow. And it even got worse after that: Nana

Hakama + Pantyhose? You've sold me. Pic related.

Well, in the producers' defense, Yura wasn't really blind. I was really fearing that Kazuna in KnS was really Yura after what anon said. Anyway the biggest red herring that threw me away was the prologue with the burial scene. 3 people that look similar is one too many.

Nana? Awesome? Depend on your definition of awesome.
Incestuous feelings towards her brother? I'm OK with that.
Bokukko? Not really my cup of tea but I don't mind.
Girl genius that knows everything? I can take that much humiliation and an intelligent girl is always welcome.
Now, guiding your brother to a crazy cannibal bitch's lair, wait after she has broken him mentally and physically until he succumbs to eating Rin's rotten remains and has a festering and rotten leg? Not cool on my book.
Cosplaying as nurse and raping her brother? Hot.
Let her brother go through that torture so she can take care of him forever? That's just crazy.

But batshit yandere imoutos are the best kind. The crazier the better. Oh and you forgot how every second line she says is downright hilarious. You should play the crossover part of Nagomibako where you get more of her during the mystery investigations of the school. And more importantly for more Rin and for explaining what happened between KnS and Carta with Yura.

Benio = ojousama with foul mouth, pantyhose, BEAUTY SPOT, and an adorable cat.
Speaking of the cat one of the many problems I had with Caucasus was like how I never got attached enough to the girls before they died, and didn't see their murders happening first hand, so they didn't produce any feeling of sadness in me. HOWEVER Benio was different. Not because she got so many more scenes before her death (I'd estimate it to be the same as the others), but because whenever she died I always felt awful when her cat was by her corpse meowing sadly for his master to weak up. ;_;

After all the raging and finally getting around to finishing the game, it wasn't as upsetting as I thought it would be. I raged that they didn't get good closure on Shinji and frankly what the fuck, you can't catch a psycho carrying around a fucking giant egg? And he just leaves it to some retard kid? SMH. But at least to me Toko before the accident could only have been happy with a Reiji end, but with psycho Toko stalking around it would have been ridiculously difficult. Ending 1 where she lives as a cripple frankly doesn't do it for me anymore than the other endings, and at least I felt some closure with true end, save for Shinji not getting his ass capped.

The game was certainly better than I thought it would be.

It just happened so, that I started to watch anime mouryou no hako and it looks so much alike with kara no shoujo. I mean, kara no shoujo actually spoiled me the whole anime - even some scenes are exactly the same. Hell, just look at it! http://www.animescentral.com/apps/videos/videos/show/11618720-mouryou-no-hako-episode-1
It was just the first 5 minutes and it's already seems like anime version of KnS!
The first scene in anime at the train is like one of the last scenes from kns, there are also 2 girls, one of them follows another and talks about how beatiful her friend and she_is_me_shit. The murderer is also a scriptwriter, there is also limbs amputation(but instead of black cloth there are boxes), the strange girl got hit by the train and went to the hospital and there are problems with heritance of that girl and there is a woman which is famous actress and... and.. SHITLOAD OF FUCK, IT'S SO SIMILIAR, watched only 3 episodes and I already see what will happen next. Oh.my.god. Innocent grey, how could you steal almost everything from the novel, written in 1995? And since there are few books, I suppose the first one is like Cartagra and the third one will be like KnS2, lol

Keeping people alive does not necessarily make for a satisfying ending, though. >> No.7609854

Pros:
- looks nice
- fairly well localized
- protagonist is a grown-up and acts in a mostly non-retarded fashion
- does a fairly good job of pretending to be an investigation game instead of a linear VN, at least for the first third
- didn't try to force me to sympathize with unsympathetic characters

Cons:
- the h scenes seem completely pointless
- assumes you actually give a shit about Toko Prime (the only route is the Toko route)
- the interactive investigation scenes were a great idea that wasn't used very well
- getting a decent ending is so anal about your choices that it practically forces you to use a walkthrough, there's almost no opportunities to pick what you want instead of what the game demands from you
