I don't really feel like posting on /jp/ anymore. Sure, there still are good posters, good threads, and sometimes quality discussion about the things I enjoy. But oftentimes that discussion seems forced into certain patterns, for example VN threads resorting to abandoning moderate, reasonable criticism because even the smallest, civilized argument would invite trolls to come in and take it to retarded proportions, ruining the thread and any other threads about it forever.

If /jp/ some years back was a friend you could discuss your interests with no restraint, /jp/ now is more like a normal that will show interest in the topics you bring up when you're alone but will immediately turn around and bash those stupid chink cartoons the second you're not. If he doesn't simply lose interest mid-conversation. Much like I can't stand discussing things with someone that has only a limited, situational interest in the topic (which, more than social anxiety led to me having hardly any, but very good friends), I can't stand participating in discussions with today's /jp/. If we can ever go back to a time where people who are genuinely interested in debating /jp/ related topics aren't a minority on their own board, constantly having to find ways of avoiding trolls and outsiders, I'll probably start posting again. Until then I'll mostly lurk until the day I feel it's not even worth browsing a few minutes a day anymore. It's just too depressing otherwise.

A lot of the posters dont feel like /jp/, they feel like they have lives,have friends,are normal,etc. About a year or two ago this was not the case. /jp/ was a lot slower,had a different userbase all together. The mangagamer threads,the raids, all brought in new different people.

Admittedly, I may have some nostalgia-goggles on for the earlier days of /jp/, but what I remember was a mishmash of varying groups representing fanbases of different things, united in our buttsoreness at /a/, but reveling in the freedom of the broader topic base. We demanded a certain level of discourse-- we were largely older users, longtime users, who had no need of "it's my first *insert anything here*, recommendations?" type conversations, but at the same time, we weren't locked in to "Touhou and VN ONLY" mindsets. We were more focused on finding ways to play games without fan translations, rather than waiting for them. I can go on.

People reply to a thread they find interesting. If a lot of people reply to this thread, that means a lot of people find it interesting. If you don't like it, you should ignore it.

I only started posting on /jp/ a year and a half ago, it has changed drastically. People did take it more easy and a wider range of subjects were discussed, there was only half the amount of touhou image dumps. Anyway I just feel like the whole 'ironic' subculture got out of hand, people started parroting the shittiest of tripfags, hostility, spam and shitposting increased because of this, threads that weren't about touhou or vn were shat on immeadiately. This place is boring and predictable now, the self-destructive attitude that swept across the board has left it in ruins. All that is left for people who don't want to dump touhou is shitposting.
