There's something about ZUN's patterns that are reallly.. special. Unlike Cave games, ZUN's patterns aren't just deadly; they're beautiful. And I respect the man for that.

I've only taken these games seriously recently. Starting with PCB because it was the first one I was exposed to. I haven't 1cc yet but getting closer each day... Is there a list of touhou games difficulty in order? Should I play PC-98 first?

Did anyone used to play Tyian before they found Touhou?
That's what got me into Touhou, I really loved 2D scrolling shooters and I resent their redundancy in modern markets because they're still awesome games.

I play almost nothing aside from Extra/Phantasm stages. Hard's just too much for me.

I can't maintain that level of concentration for 15+ minutes, and fucking up twenty minutes into the game and having to restart is brutal. Fuck that shit.

It's still fuck awesome to play, but some weapons are just plain better than anything else. Once you get the laser to full you'll never want to use anything else.

The Main weapon, the huge fucking laser that's three or four beams wide and does four hits in one press of the shot button.

The zica flame thrower is the most powerful side weapon, although it is short ranged.

I can never decide on a rear gun though, I mean I use sonic pulse weapons there until I get a decent main weapon and then can never think of something better to use. Homing mines just slow the FPS to shit.

Bitches don't know that Tyrian isn't really your typical Shoot 'Em Up.

But it was still awesome, the bonus levels were lulz.

Anybody else play better after drinking alcohol? I always do better after drinking a glass of sake or two. Keeps me calm.

Most people don't bother with the PC-98 games, at least not around here. 6 7 8 9.5 10 are for the most part the only ones people seem to bother with.

And I think that the order of difficulty is dependent on what level you're playing at, to an extent, ie one game might have an easier easy mode but a harder hard mode than another- as an example, MoF is considered to be one of the easier ones, but to a novice player it can be harder to complete, since you can max out your starting lives, turn on easy mode/slow mode, and bomb/continue spam through the hard stages and complete the game, MoF doesn't let you set your starting lives and sends you back to the start of a level when you continue, so you can't faceroll your way to the end.

I think 5 is the best, easily prefer 3 to 9, found 1, 2 and 4 to be highly enjoyable games, and enjoy listening to the music from the '98s.
