I don't care for pure and virginal myself - in fact, I hate deflowering scenes - just that I found that weirdly clashing. Of the other girls, at least Hatsune says this, though knowing about it could be natural considering her history.

As for cycles, the blood loss happens during the hard-to-miss actual menstruation, so I don't see why she'd need to pay special attention to her cycle (which tends to be irregular for young women anyway), or look into what days are safe and what aren't. Though it may have been that it was common knowledge for all girls back when hormonal contraceptives had yet to hit the market.

Talking of hormonals, didn't Orihime say she was using contraceptive medicine? That's a bit weird, seeing that the first hormonal contraceptives were only available in the west around the 60s, and were only approved in Japan much later. Well eh. Looking for inconsistencies in eroscenes is a perversion of mine, so don't mind me.

>> No.7570254

Question:
On the very first bad end you can get (Orihime scene), our genius MC sees the 'Black Madonna', and says 'now I understand' essentially.
However, even though the book is mentioned, you do not meet the author/killer til llater on, and he had not heard of him before hand. What teh fuck did he figure out?

>> No.7570270

>>7570254
I don't know how you could miss this one, but there are 2 murderers: first, Schisma members were killed by Kusaka for his wish to revive Yui and take revenge against those who forced her into prostitution, and second, girls killed by Shinji for his remake of Kara no Shoujo. Reiji says "so it was you all along" or something to that effect when he sees Kusaka, who was the one to murder Orihime.

>> No.7570271

>>7570270
Also, you're wrong about him "not having heard of him beforehand". In one of the very first days of the game, he witnesses schoolgirls bustling about a bookstore for Katsuragi Shin's book launch or some event to that effect. He is mentioned very early on. Not that any of this is relevant to your actual question, since he was not the one to murder Orihime to begin with.

7570282

>>7570236
Irregular doesn't mean they're all over the place, just that they sometimes come early or late, last longer, etc.; it's still possible to determine your cycle just by paying attention to when your periods usually occur, and if you know that, you also know when you're ovulating.

As for Orihime's birth control, the Enovid pill was first made widely available in the U.S. in 1957, and Margaret Sanger's birth control research started even earlier than that. Illegal and experimental version of the pill were already circulating before then.

It's not incredibly plausible that these could make their way into the hands of a teenage girl in Japan, true, but this is Tokyo; if they were available anywhere in the country, it'd be there. Furthermore, there are all those U.S. servicemen around to boot; since she was whoring, the possibility that one of them gave it to her is fairly likely I'd say.

Not that I'm trying to argue mind you. It's nice to have some discussion up in here for a change.

Good points there regarding Orihime. Didn't Schisma also have a connection to illegal drugs? Because it could make more sense if she had acquired them through such connections.

One possibility is also a medicine of non-hormonal nature. I don't know about Japan, but many countries had natural medicines, if they can be called that, with the purpose of contraception before the modern pill came around. The effectiveness of these is a different matter altogether, of course.

As for irregularity, I hear it can be really "all over the place", though that must be uncommon; slighter irregularities like the ones you mentioned are the norm, I suppose. What I know is that it's usually worse for young women, and tends to get better with age. Ovulation can also occur at somewhat different times of the cycle for different women, which is one reason why the rhythm method isn't considered reliable anymore - though this has nothing to do with the girls perceiving the days as safe, of course.

I found Carta pretty great myself, the in my opinion the atmosphere was better (more grim after ww2-y and engaging), it has a smaller but more likable cast, and Nana (Shugo's sister) is awesome. The only issue with her I thought, (but this could be more of the issue how it's missing the notepad/interactivity stuff one gets in KnS/Caucasus) that Nana is the one helping out Shugo and at times it seems she played the game already or something as she knows so much.
Also I liked Shugo's POV more than Reiji's. Art is rather different (in my opinion worse) than the stuff Sugina Miki did after that, but I'd put the BGM on about the same level.
The main route is great but it's not as overarching as KnS and not as complex. It might be more hard on the stomach too (like you are forced to eat some meat a heroine who died X time ago while as you are being delirious have delusions about how said heroine is trying to encourage to "eat me Shugo, at least this way I can be with you for forever!", but it's not like KnS was a walk in the park either with Rokushiki detailing his past when he fed her own fetus to the woman she operated for abortion.), but I guess that's highly subjective.
Moreover Carta was the first game the Takoyaki Oyaji appears, and he's damn awesome!
I prefer KnS over it, but it's great too.

Saying someone "deserves to be spoiled for not finishing a 12 hour game and are on the internet" is a bad argument. It's like saying Crazy Toko deserved to die for throwing away Toko's amupole/needle. While she certainly had it coming, I wouldn't say she deserved to die for it.

I've read Cartagra and KnS and I was kinda interested in reading it too.

>> No.7575577

>>7575555
No, the problem isn't that it's like an adventure game with so many options in its interface. But the issue is that the time is going forward in real time so you can't freely do what you want and inspect what you want or ask everyone about everything. It mercilessly limits your options and it's very easy that you run out of it if you don't know what to do (and that you will). Also despite having the notebook there too, it's not used on anything, and never once comes up.
Then again one can just weasel it out by using a walkthrough after giving up.

The problems I had with it which makes it pale in comparison to KnS in my opinion were other things.

I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know what post you're referring to, but I played Cartagra after Kara and I haven't been spoiled by it.

The only thing Kara spoils is that the reappearing characters probably can't be the main villains in Cartagra and won't die in the true end. But this doesn't really touch the actual story.

>> No.7580336

It spoils one twist with Yura (Kazuna's twin sister), that's it. Then again if you ever checked the character bios of KnS and saw Kazuna being healthy and pregnant, then you will already realize what's really going on in that scene.

The bad ending where Kazuna dies, Takashiro loses it and Hatsune comes to comfort him is a Cartagra spoiler, since he mentions by name a whole bunch of people that died in Cartagra. That's the spoiler I was talking about. There's no mention of the killer, though, nor of the plot beyond "prostitutes dying left and right".

>> No.7585721

>>7584720
>>7584709

What happened is:
- Kusaka, having killed Kazuna, completed Yui's body, and (presumably) enjoying his imouto necrophilia funtimes, decides he's gonna continue killing people according to the Divine Comedy. He picks Reiji for Cocytus, the hell of the wrathful (which had Satan frozen in ice - hint hint); he figures, correctly, that the only way he can make Reiji lose his cool is to force him to choose between his imouto and his best friend.

- Kusaka presumably kidnaps Yukari, puts her in some kind of refrigeration thing (I have nfc how, but he does), locks her up, and then either kidnaps Shugo or lures him there to feed him the key. He then knocks Shugo out, writes his note, and commits suicide with amyl nitrate or whatever.

Like I said, bad ending, so don't worry too much if it doesn't jive 100% with the rest of the story.

>> No.7585782

You can actually play the game and complete every ending except the True one (and that may be possible too, I just haven't checked) and only ever see two sex scenes: the one with Natsume after you bring her the right handwriting samples, and the one in the flashback.

> Regarding KnS2, there will be new protag, 50 charaters total, and the story is continuing a year after true end.

Source on this, anyone?

I GUESS I'd be okay with this, as long as Reiji is still around at least as much as Takashiro was in KnS.

Also, while having that many characters sounds like it'll make for some enjoyably difficult sleuthing, it also means that I have no chance of winning the InnoGrey deadpool contest for KnS 2 ;___;
(I actually played the Caucasus one and managed enough points for a runner-up prize, but that had only 12 characters; Lot 50 is going to be fucking impossible.)

Even though I knew that she wouldn't make it thanks to KnS' Shuugo recalling past events, it stills leaves me with a bad aftertaste considering her interactions with Shuugo (specially the "Respond to her feelings" choice).
