I can not beat Nanabi for the life of me. I have tried 4 times already and she always does the double attack just as I'm about to get meditation again.

You have to count her moves and before she starts the magic concerntration you have to have 2 SP

Is there anyone else who likes the game for the story and not because of the fap material? I'm genuinely intrigued by the story of it and I have no idea why, this isn't normally my type of game.

I don't think it actually matters how much you damage her, you just need to have her use her charge attack twice. Don't waste and SPs on attack skills, just keep them in reserve for healing.

All her basic attacks, aside from her double tail attack, do a little less than one 1/6th of your health. Because of this, if you trade blows for three rounds, you'll have taken about ~1/2 damage, and have regained just enough SP to use your "heal 1/2 of your damage" skill.

Her binding attack is a tremendous bitch, but if you continuously struggle you ought to break free before you are irreparably fucked (so to speak).

Aside from that, take advantage of her actionless turns and hope you survive long enough before the RNG ganks you.

It's a bitch on hard, but I can be done.

And remember the Dorf Fortress motto: losing is fun!

Same here, I downloaded this yesterday on a whim and played it last night, instantly hooked. The story isn't amazing, but I find it pretty interesting (especially compared to most VNs). Of course the monster girls are the main draw for me, love the combat too. Just goes to show VNs aren't about budget, they're about the characters and appeal.

Using Flail Wildly on the first Elemental Fiend of Fire battle gives you a special game over. Using it on the second Elemental Fiend of Fire battle causes her to cuss you out.

Aside from that, it's just a waste of one turn and two SP.

Some monsters also resort to fight you instead of running away in the middle of battle. The tiny lamia in the bandit hideout for example. If you play on normal and just struggle on the first turn, she'll start crying and run away. But if you choose hard, she actually sticks around to fight.

Some monsters have multiple gameover scenes. The lamia alone has 3 (tongue, vaginal, vore).

Just note you can check exactly how many scenes a monster has by checking their encyclopedia page. You can also unlock them there too so it's not necessary to lose if you're trying to unlock everything.

If you win the fight, the monster gets put into the encyclopedia. You can then re-fight (and lose) to them at any point from the title screen. You can never miss anything by beating a monster. The only missable things are by choices (Leaving Alice, not pulling out the mandragora, etc...)

Normal mode is... normal. You can fuck up once or twice and still win most battles. Some monsters won't use their stronger attacks on normal, which can be a bad thing because those attacks are the best to subject yourself to.

Hard mode is very strict. Each turn in battle, there will almost always be one action that is ideal. Messing up even once will almost always leave you with not quite enough HP or SP to win the fight. On top of that, even if you always choose the best option there's a chance that the random number generator will fuck you over and you'll lose.

Hell mode is mostly like Hard mode. I haven't noticed much different, but I think critical attacks are less common, and the numbers are just slightly more in the enemies favor. It's not very noticeable because Hard mode already so strict on what actions you need to take that Hell mode isn't any more difficult.

I prefer to play on hard, but that's mostly because I like solving puzzles.

Unlikely since the appearance of monstergirls is fairly recent in Monster Girl Encyclopedia, they're only around because the current Demon Lord decided that everyone should be able to experience the pure love she shares with her husband and converted all monsters into girls (they're also unable to kill humans without provocation, while Monmusu Quest monstergirls have no qualms about that.) Monstergirls in Monmusu Quest have been there at least for quite a while.

However, the setting is very similar in general (especially the conflict between the divine forces and the Demon Lord due to conflicting ideologies, though Monstergirl Encyclopedia demon lord is less "peaceful coexistence" and more "unite monsters and humanity by converting all human females into monstergirls." She all but did that to elves and dwarves, so her opponents have a reason to go against her beyond "Ilias said so.") If anything, the main difference seems to be that Monstergirl Encylopedia's Demon Lord seems to be a lot stronger, owns a very vast realm and keeps a massive private army instead of just chilling in some island and glaring menacingly in humanity's general direction once in a while.

I didn't see this posted in any of the threads, and I don't know if anyone cares, but you don't really have to save only at the designated save points when using the english patch if you have microsoft ime installed (if you don't, get out of /jp/).
When you want to save at a point other than one of the safe save points (such as in a battle on hell mode against one of the many cheapass monsters like the scorpion or iron maiden), change the ime input to ｆｕｌｌ　ｗｉｄｔｈ　ｒｏｍａｊｉ and type in anything you want. Make sure you get rid of all the text that is in the save box to begin with. The setting for full width romaji should be the third from the top.

Does anyone know how to get Earthworm girl to use Sweet Worm? She never uses it, and it's one of two moves that I need to complete the encyclopedia
The other one is Jellyfish girl's Paralytic Tentacle, which seems to be bugged. She's used it on me several times, and it shows up in the request command list, but it's grayed out in the encyclopedia

Just guard until she comes out of her box. She'll only counter and auto-win if you attack her when she's huddling in the chest. I never really had a problem with her even on hard, although on that difficulty you really need to keep your SP in storage for meditation - otherwise she'll deal way too much damage.

The mimic is the most luck based battle in the game. You basically just have to hope she uses quite a few of her turns not doing anything instead of attacking, since one attack from her does like 35 damage AND she gets 2 free attacks afterwards since you have to struggle to get free. So basically, one attack from her does 105 damage while you have 130 HP. Even if use mediate after her first attack to get back to a little under 100 HP, if she decides to attack right after again, she'll take the rest of your HP.

Hated that battle

What, no. The counter attack is auto-kill and only happens when she's inside the chest. That's completely unrelated.

When she's out of the box she either does nothing or attacks. You have to pray that she does nothing a lot more often than she attacks. The first move on her attack list is the attack she does occasionally outside of her box, the 2nd is her auto-kill counter

Also, I checked and apparently on normal, her string of attacks will only bring you down to about half-life, making it much easier than hard.

I have that hongfire thread, and the e-mail in the readme. I have a program that alerts me whenever a post is made with monster girl or monmusu in them (Only once per thread), so I check out the threads sometimes and fix mistakes as I see them. Never noticed the untranslated skills for sluggy though, thanks.

This is probably my single favorite H game ever. It has so many different artists and fetishes, everyone is bound to find something to love. And I think I actually picked up a new one or two, and that's quite something, since I can fap to damn near anything already.

If I made it Amila, it still wouldn't exactly retain the pun since reversing it would be Alima.
