Apart from /c/, and a handful of boards, /jp/ is really slow. A /sp/ raid took a hundred posts in around 1 minute, and they failed to take a simple GET. That's pretty bad. Honestly, when you're actually wearing one it feels less like "I've become the character" and more "Oh hey, I'm wearing a costume". You are *very* aware of the mask, especially if it is designed to be a tight-fit or has some weight to it (such as from a heavy wig or internal padding).

Contrary to >>7564576 I've never felt hot or confined while wearing it, but then again I've worn it in places with plenty of AC and never for an extended period of time (which is just common sense for any costume of that type). The exception is (of course) doing physical activities like dancing or whatnot, the kind of stuff that would wear you out even if you didn't handicap yourself by doing something like encasing your head in a padded fibreglass mask. A well-designed mask can minimise this though.

People make a big deal about the zentai feeling/looking like a second skin or whatever but when you're wearing a t-shirt and shorts underneath, not so much.

1) It acts as a barrier to soak up sweat from your body before it reaches the zentai. Sweat stains on cotton-spandex look horrible, no matter the circumstance, and it's easier to wash a cotton t-shirt than spandex zentai. It's also more hygienic if you intend to let others wear your costume, or if it's a stage show costume (pic related) that many others will be wearing.

2) It makes things more comfortable. Spandex is not the most friendly material to wear against your skin, especially when you do a lot of movement (like dancing) and chafing comes into play.

3) It keeps you warm. I know that might sound counter-intuitive, but thin cotton-spandex is not the best material for keeping out the cold. When you're wearing a costume that exposes your skin (pic related, again) or one that's made of materials that are designed to look good instead of providing any real protection from the elements, you need an extra layer of *something* underneath to keep yourself from freezing.
