7516088 No.7516088 [Reply] [Original]

Obviously inspired by the Rewrite thread: Iet's get some nominations for these three mecha eroge that people seem to view as the best the mecha genre has to offer (or possibly the eroge medium?)

Please don't view this thread as some sort of fanboy/troll/flamewar thread. I'm only interested in what people think of these three titles because I enjoyed MLA a lot, which is actually the only game I've played of those three, so essentially all I really want to know is what to expect when they're translated.

Which game has the best story?
Which game has the best characters?
Which game has the best OST?
Which game is the most well-written?

Also I want your opinion on this as I just watched the OPs:

Which game has the best OP?
Which game has the best OP song?

Muramasa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le2zxWrD294
MLA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UENpZitXCCc
Baldr Sky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD_ecJalA2s

Characters: Muramasa, no contest

Best OPs=Baldr Sky, especially Jihad, it's an excellent OP.

It builds amazing tension during the very well-presented action sequences but its basically a nakige that makes you care for its characters by making you play through two rather shitty eroge.

Both Muramasa and BS use the medium in a much more interesting way. Muramasa really is a visual NOVEL, while BS has amazing gameplay and fantastic pacing, such a joy to play.

MLA had a great story and presentation but what brings it down for me is the first 2 parts which were rather tedious. The characters and the MC got on my nerves bunch of times too.

I loved Baldr Sky but it lacked the awesome movie-likeness of MLA. It did make it up with better characters, awesome fast paced gameplay and great soundtrack.

But what brings BS way over MLA in the end is the conclusion. MLA's ending felt quite weak and disappointing while I found BS's ending and conclusion probably the most satisfying out of the VNs I've read.

Baldr Sky looks interesting, but it also looks unplayable with my shitty AGTH/Atlas setup and as much as I'd like to, there's no way I'm learning moonrunes just for porn. Does the translation project actually exist, or is it another one of those project that just stopped and no one ever found out?

Yes. Game is written by an expert swordmaster. He apparently intended to pass his knowledge to the younger generation so that his skills might be put in good use. Shields, clearly. It's apparent from the Burroughs fight that he loves shields. It'll be a VN about people dual wielding tower shields bashing each other in the face.

I hope it's also about medieval duels and the protagonist is Jaques Lailang, one of the best duelists to live. He also had a tendency to go for his rivals' eyes and even his personal motif was tears.

>Jacques and Diego traded blows with their polaxes so fiercely that sparks flew from their armor. "Then Jacques de Lalaing, seeing how aggressive his adversary was, whirled the point of his polaxe around, and struck 3 blows on the eye-slits of Diego, one after another, in such a way that he was wounded in 3 places in the face... the first blow landed on his left brow, the second on the point of his forehead, and the third above the right eye."

>The first two courses with the lance were indecisive. On the third course, the knight of Auvergne struck Jacques in the middle of his shield and splintered his lance. Jacques, on the other hand, striking "with all his force and science," hit his opponent in the eyeslits. This blow struck so hard that it struck sparks from the helmet, bending the opponent backwards in the saddle until his back rested on the croup of his horse. His opponent, completely stunned, fell from his horse. The knight of Auvergne was carried unconscious to his lodgings; it was a full hour before he regained his memory, and he bled profusely from the mouth, nose, and ears.

>On the second course, Jacques again carried his opponent's helm off his head. His lance struck with such force that the helm was carried 4 "toise." (A "toise" was a measure of length that seems to have been about 6 feet; thus, the helm was thrown about 24 feet by the force of the blow.)

I swear, Urobuchi has a gun fetish or something. Everything he's written there's at least one scene where he spergs out about why a particular gun is so good. Phantom of Inferno was especially bad about this, but it was also in Fate/zero and Django. Hell, even Saya had that one scene with the sawed-off shotgun.

>> No.7516865

writers feel more comfortable writing about things they have first-hand experience of. Just like Narahara is a kendoka so he writes about kendo, Urobuchi is a gun and western movies enthusiast and this is reflected in his works. This isn't really weird.
