Yeah, where do you think they get their magic power from? Everything has its price, good sir. You know those danmaku battles? They have various excuses for it, but in the end it all comes down to stealing the money. You know how you get 'points' in games, and they don't seem to do anything except count towards your high score? They, too, represent something. The higher your score, the bigger the gap between rich youkai and poor youkai becomes. The variations in scoring rules between the games is because of shifts in Gensokyo's economy. Changes in abilities between games are also caused by changes in personal wealth of the characters.

Gensokyo is a harsh world.
