I've given up on the board. It's been shit for ages, but now it's so terrible that I just can't seem to care anymore. When the newer posters tell us that what we used to post is no longer allowed, and people even agree with it, it's no use fighting it anymore. I even used to contribute to these threads, but I no longer care enough anymore (well, no big loss, most of my contributions wouldn't be 'allowed' on /jp/ anymore anyways). /jp/ has turned into a combination of /a/ and pooshlmer. - Try to expand the box a bit, maximize the whole bottom space; that is unless you plan to put several buttons, icons or portraits on the left and right sides of the boxes.
- Extend the text box downward.
- Left align the text.
- Test different opacities for the text box as well. There are some CG scenes that specific parts get covered by the text box and it gets annoying since you cant hide the text box and read the text at the same time, right?
- For the name placeholder, instead of cutting it like that, extend it so that the text box makes a rounded rectangular shape.

Other than that, the design looks good.

This is the guy from a few threads back who wrote big critiques. Looks good. I'd say it's probably an improvement on the old one, although I liked that too.

As others have been saying, left-aligned text is a good idea. If you center align the text, the reader has to start reading at different places depending on the amount of text there is because of how centering works(i.e. if there's only a couple of words you start near the center, if it's a full paragraph you start at the left, etc.).

I don't really agree that there's a need to do anything with the name box. It's generally just for show in a VN, isn't it? During the course of a VN recognizing a name becomes quick enough that you don't really even need to be able to make out the letters most of the time to know who it is. While I might not agree with some of the 90 degree angles on the box, I don't think the part of the design you're talking about is stylistically unappealing, either.

Work on drawing faster, I'd say. The faster you can put a line down, the less it'll be affected by a shaky hand.
That, or get used to the sketchy look. You can always clean it up digitally later.

Mmm, I don't know. I've tried that, yeah, but the lines end up being too thin and looks ugly. Then I try drawing over it to make it thicker but then it looks inconsistent.

And doing it digitally just makes it worse for me, since there's no friction at all from the tablet to help make my hand steadier. I guess I'm just not cut out for drawing, huh...

Here's an example from a month ago. It's those kind of finished-unfinished project, where it's unfinished but I've lost all interest to finish it. Anyway, you could probably see the shaky and squiggly lines from miles away, which, amongst other things, made coloring extremely frustrating.

I just had a talk with the coder, and he said that it's perfectly possible to make the color of the text be decided by the player, same with the opacity. The slider will be something very close to what was done at ImoPara.

About it being close to Sumaga, I really can't do anything about it. Sumaga is an amazing game, I loved it(no, seriously, the end of She May Go made me cry like a girl), but the reason for the color scheme is related to the story of the game. Besides, not even if I tried I'd be able to rip off a game that good.

Yeah, I'm painfully aware of that. I'm definitely going to be remaking everything again down the road when we have more material, but for now, that's the least I can do. When this project started, everyone was hyped as usual, but we suddenly lost two musicians and one artist, leaving us with just me as the scenario writer/interface designer, a coder(which is a very good one) and the artist. We are all very busy, so all we have are character sheets, concepts, drafts and stuff like that. Tight situation.

And we don't want to try to recruit more members without having at least a decent presentation material, so in the meanwhile we just carry on, y'know? Sooner or later we'll finish a tech demo or something and with that more people to join the team. ┐(´ー｀)┌ But I digress.
