What do you want to do this time? Mix it up with clips of the anime?
No direct offense intended, but the thing is 2 years old, and only now when half the anime adaptation have had its course, all of a sudden things sparks up everywhere.

trying to make windows 7 theme
I guess I could record the sounds but I thought the quality would be better if I just use the voice files instead

Use FRAPS, no loss of quality.

Alright. That isn't the worst idea. I have neither the game nor anything else on me though, so I can't really help that much.

You could however, set your recording software to record all sounds from in your computer, and set it up to be as lossless as possible (would say completely lossless, but I don't know if such a theme would allow that.)

And then basically set up lots and lots of save points with your desired lines, and then configure Steins;Gate's sound settings to rock bottom for everything but voices.

That should do it, even if you weren't to extract them.

sounds pretty normal
FSN became big when anime aired, Utawarerumono got its popularity mainly from the anime and Dori/Gura spam
etc, etc
anime showcases products, that's what it's being used for by eroge companies nowadays.

People were already set on translating TM's stuff before F/SN's adaptation announcement. And I am not all that sure Tsukihime's mattered that much.

But yes, anime showcases products, that's true.
But nowadays there are still plenty of people (as opposed to what was only few in the past) who actively follows VNs.

Brings back memories of, Umineko, who had time to translate the majority of the first arcs before the adaptations, the change in both tone and manner, and magnitude/quantity were indeed noticable. But that's slightly besides the point.

No matter the case though, I can't help but to worry for the Steins;Gate translation project.
It have been a remarkable and much spoken of work since its release, but these people who doesn't seem to have done anything other than fansubbing some anime episodes, could very well have never heard of it before, and chances are, they haven't heard much about others VNs either, nor the work related to working with such stuff.
Not to be speaking of how it seems their fansubbing haven't been entirely without trouble either.

One could always dream I suppose, it is a work worthy of translation, but I don't really know what kind of crowd it would attract now. Also, no need to be overly elitist here, but chances are these people wouldn't even be all that thrilled considering they are spoiled by the greatily toned down adaptation. What good are thousands upon thousands of people who don't even have an active interest?

I don't really know, suppose none of this matter as much as it might, but it still could though, it still could.
