I find 4chan and Toonami to be quite similar, at least how the two gracefully aged.

At the start, Toonami had Moltar, not the best.. but had a few good shows to offer. Akin to 4chan, for several years is was a great place to discuss things, and wasn't overly huge.

Then Toonami got tom, and the show exploded. It had tons to offer. Tons of great shows and even more. Around the peak of when the internet was becoming popular, there was tons of involvement with its audience, everything from voting for shows, comics game reviews and lots else. It was the peak. 4chan went through a similar stage, more boards were created, user involvement was for the most part collaborative and generally in every sense a great community through and through.

Sadly both have reached their peak. Peaks can be great, it means you're at the very top. But with a peak you also start to go down.

Toonami had changed in a fashion. Once at the top of its game, it now started showing up less and less. A mere blip on the radar... resorting to showing reruns after reruns. Bringing to the table pitiful anime adaptations to Naruto and the like. Never coming close to as good as it was. Giving nothing that the community, truly in their hearts.. wanted.

4chan is a lot like how Toonami was.
