Konami: D
Microsoft: F
EA: this is me giving a fuck
Ubisoft: C-
Sony: B

This E3 was cancer of video games. It didn't even have a really funny overthetop confrence like last year's Konami to consolation. I don't think I'm even going to be hyped for this next year. I mean, seriously, so many people devoted their life to give us technology that can let us have such rich experiences, and all we can do is brown shooters?

Sony's was terrible, not nearly worth a B.
High budget game development is no longer an art, it has become nothing more than mass-production. Fortunately, the indie game scene seems to be developing in a great way, so we still get good new games. Pic related.

The only high-budget company I still have any hopes for is Nintendo. We'll see what they have to show in a couple hours.

>> No.7448811

>>7448801

Or if you can't be bothered reading the whole site (which we both know you don't have the attention span for), here's the relevant passage:

http://insomnia.ac/reviews/pc/vvvvvv/

>But let's make an important distinction here: Doukutsu Monogatari is a doujin game, not an indie one -- if this distinction seems pedantic to you, hold on to your bile while I explain why I am making it. A doujin game is indeed, roughly speaking, a Japanese indie game -- but this little word, "Japanese", makes a world of difference. Because the doujin scene has given us games like Melty Blood, Big Bang Beat, Akatsuki Denkou Senki, Every Extend, Acceleration of Suguri, Tumiki Fighters, Warning Forever, Imperishable Night, Shoot the Bullet and Trouble Witches -- games which at the time of their release stood right at -- or at least very near -- the cutting edge of their respective genres in terms of complexity (and even sometimes presentation), and which with a little extra effort -- or even as they were, in some cases -- would have had no trouble going up against many of their best commercial rivals -- as many of them in fact eventually did, and to a stunning effect. -- So that's what the doujin scene has given us, and let's now see: what has the Western indie scene given in its turn? Can anyone name even a single title that gets anywhere near the ones I just randomly rattled off? Worse: can anyone name even a single Western indie game that does not bore the experienced gamer to death within the first few minutes?

let's look at how the best players in the world are viewed for their respective games.

>chess
cultured, intelligent, attractive, mature, famous, rich, travels around the world, and can easily pride themselves in their work, and others respect them for it
>rts
very famous among gamers, earn a good living, have pride in your work, the community of gamers respect you, travel around playing the game you love, and looked at as a super star in china/south korea respectively
>fps
famous among gamers and even casual gamers who enjoy fps games, decent amount of money, pride that you're a professional and get a paycheck for gaming, and lots of travel.
>fighters
not well respected or known, usually looked down on by the gaming community because it's not a respected e-sport, community is mexicans, flips, and blacks entirely almost, tournaments don't get you money and it's basically just a hobby not a profession, but you have friends and get to enjoy the games.
>shmup
spend all your time playing single player games against ai that doesn't change, you're required to have several disabilities to actually grind and spend the time remembering the patterns for "high scores", no money and there isn't even tournament since it's single player, no pride or even community/friends, and even if you're the most diaper wearing, mouth drooling, autistic person in the world with the highest score you spent the last 5 years of your life getting, no one even congratulations you let alone celebrates it.

You're clinging onto the 'classical literature' thing too much, which is what I anticipated (because retards will always think along those lines -- "omg u r comparin him 2 shakespeare/cervantes/dickens? WTF r u on?"). The analogy is not between Alex and Shakespeare, the analogy is between their respective audiences.

The Shakespeare thing was simply what came to mind first. You could do it with any writer -- for instance, reword it as:

"I've noticed these arguments are always kind of like arguing for the merits of Stephen King with people who've never read The Shining... you know?"

You're getting caught up in an autistic detail and missing the actual point, which is that if you haven't read the highest-esteemed works of a particular author you have no authority in critiquing them. This is hardly a controversial point, is it?
