Their good/bad ratio is still roughly the same. That is, the music.

Also I can't tell if OP is trying too hard or not trying at all.

Planetarian was good.

>> No.7416695

I don't understand the hate for IOSYS.
I guess it's because they're sort of popular, so their videos draw in a lot of new (read: annoying) people. and /jp/ is hipster...

but most of their characterizations in the videos stick to the fandom pretty well. The music is, for the most part, good. Though I generally prefer non-vocal pieces.

The vocal IOSYS songs are crap.

Most of their non-vocal (read: Minami) songs are not, however.

I will never understand this hate for vocals. Is it about being edgy, or is this about those imaginary fighting scenes, or what?

Even if you don't like it, at least realize it's just an opinion.

>> No.7416739

I liked Cucumber Flavored Beer, Border of Death, Convictor Yama and Artificial Children.

Marisa stole the Precious thing, Bakkoi, Math class and Overdrive are fucking annoying though.

>> No.7416756

It's because they hurt my ears, they're always some extra-cheery singer who barely gets in tune with the song, the videos only make it worse by making me cringe.

And of course it's an opinion, especially if it's coming from an anon. If you did know that, then you shouldn't have even bothered.

>they're always some extra-cheery singer who barely gets in tune with the song

They also use singers like 3L and あさな you know. Two more recent albums even featured lily-and and Ranko.

About the pitch vocals, I tend to enjoy them though I know they are not for everyone. It's a particular style. I do think however, that no-one can write songs for miko quite like ARM. The stuff she does with other arrangers are never as good and they never bring out the interesting parts in her voice quite the same.

And now this thread has made me feel like listening to 少女さとりのさとりったー

>> No.7416832

>>7416770
Lily-an and ランコ were both guests on the those CDs. Miracle is not miracle is the only song on an IoSYS CD that was arranged by someone that wasn't from their own (liztora/buta) circles. In other words, they did it to spread recognition.

I'm not going to buy an IoSYS CD just to listen to one or two tracks that doesn't make me want to rip my ears off.

Most of the time I download an album for just 1 song and end up liking 1 or 2 more songs from it.

I don't mind listening to iosys.

But really now, are we seriously expecting good music to come from remixing the same songs over and over? about 90% of the touhou music industry would never succeed as a regular artist. They just paste a nice touhou sticker on the cover of their albums, or they would never get any attention in the first place.

this is certainly why this is so popular, it's fun to see a flash video but it won't means that the whole album will be good, except the fanon flash, i liked Faithful Slut

HEY FUCK OFF! AYUMIKO'S VOICE MAKES IOSYS GOOD. But in all honesty, i can't imagine IOSYS being half as popular without their using ayumikos for more than half their famous hits. Case in point, when you think IOSYS, first thing that comes to mind is ayumiko's voice.

I actually think her solo projects are pretty generic and boring, at least from what I've heard of them. But I think this might be a preference in music rather than vocals, because I do think she is a good singer. I like her the best when she does stuff for IOSYS and ALBATROSICKS though.

My favorite track with her by another circle would this one;

Well, there are some songs of miko that are alright, but those don't have her singing in that high-pitched voice she usually uses.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luQ7HpLjs9Q
Actually, that was the only miko song on my IOSYS folder that I like. Most of the songs with vocals I like from this circle are from different artists. I don't really listen much to this circle anyway, I mostly listen to their instrumental stuff like Touhou Merry-Go-Round and the ones by Minami. Oh yeah, uno's BEST BEATS albums were pretty nice too.

OK, so I'm pretty recently getting into the doujin music. I really do enjoy the more popular ones such as IOSYS/SF/IK but I do find that there is a mountain of treasure of less popular music from groups like demetori and the group that did innocent scarlet album (can't remember their name off the top of my head). Now, I'm not trying to start a flame war here between people who say these three popular groups make subpar music that only serves to ingrain the already warped ideas in fandom and those who probably do not know many other groups. I'm simply saying enjoy the music. If you like it, you like it. Don't give a fuck if it's mainstream. If you don't like it, no need to start belittling those with different tastes.
