Personally, I think it's these people from /v/ who have caused us most trouble. I think their entryway is the semi-/v/ threads that the mods just accept because they've always been there. Nearly all of the really bad tripfags we've ever had on this board were known to mainly browse these threads.

I'd vote for removing the anime threads over the VN's. It's good to attract newfags, and we can just weed out the autistic ones via flaming/not replying/the same general methods we've used forever.

However, /a/ stuff should be on /a/, which is why we should point the anime threads there. While VN's are /technically/ /v/, they're more like visual stores than video games, and thus can stay here.
Also, if we get rid of VN's then the only things we have left to discuss are:
1) Touhou
2) Vocaloid
3) Figs
4) Emo death ramblings
5) Random Japanese stuff

I wouldn't say that it's just VNs alone, I'd say it's more out of people becoming more open about their /jp/-related hobbies than they used to be, as in way more. By openness, I mean such as talking about VNs in /a/ or /lit/, or Touhou in /a/ or /v/. Hell, /a/ has had several very big threads purely about Yukkuris and VNs lately. As in like, threads literally called "Visual Novel general" etc.

So, from this premise of /jp/ content sprawling across other boards, at root we can conclude that the cause of this sprawl's continuation is a failure of moderation to contain our board topics. The thing is though, arguments can be made that /jp/ topics are tangentially board related to /a/ or /v/ etc, it's just that usually we expect /a/ or /v/ to tell people trying to talk about /jp/ content, to get the fuck over to /jp/. Now, they just kind of loosely accept /jp/ topics. /a/ especially will talk about /jp/ topics now, because /a/ is now apparently more loosely moderated since it's more like /v/ these days. Linking to that, since /v/ has a lot of cross-traffic with /a/, they naturally may stumble across those babby-level VN/Touhou threads there, and then start wandering around here.

The biggest problem with /jp/ is that everyone who posts here on a regular basis is a virgin loser who has to take out their anger and frustration with not getting laid on an anonymous forum.

And of course the fact that the board's "genuine" population is split between delusional autistic manchildren who have specific desires on posting or the board that will NEVER be met (/dg/, /idol/, /th/, /vn/, specific board rules, pet peeves, etc.) beyond the usual cries of offtopic/cancer/QUALITY or cynical. bitter posters who have long since grown tired of the same six threads everyday. Thus, they spend their entire time coming up with increasingly ironic, irate, yet indifferent responses towards everyone else, such as the comments that fill these existential threads without fail and the one I'm making now.

It would be a bit more reasonable if we could actually all just take it a little easier or move on in my case. I haven't played Touhou seriously in a while, my interest in VN's has taken a nosedive, Len is never posted in the Vocaloid threads, and I don't particularly enjoy or even know anything Idols, though I never got everyone's fucking problem with them in the first place. They are always highly insular, and it's not like I see MM spam at 2:00 every morning or which Idol has the rudest titties in three separate threads. MMO's have always been my pet peeve, especially WoT way back when, but they aren't anywhere as bad as most make them out to be unless hotglue is involved. Touhou has probably been the downfall of this board, ironically. The fact that there is no more discussion/scoring/etc. of the games/actual background (However vague.) along with it's popularity growing has left a bad impression.

Honestly, I seriously think /jp/ just needs to plain fucking die. As cynical as that is, it's become much too accepted, like you said, for almost all the content that we have here to be posted elsewhere, regardless of the effect on this board.
