Does /jp/ listen to the music that comes along with the VN, or play something else while reading? I'd understand if you'd want to change music when you're on you're third or fourth run through tsukihime or ever17.

>> No.7395334

Listen to the VN music since usually it'll be trying to set the tone of the scene. Unless it's really annoying shitty music, but then I might as well not be playing the VN

>> No.7395348

I've never even considered it. I don't listen to something else while watching movies or anime either.

no. this is stupid

Dude, fuck you. The music is put there for a reason, it sets the atmosphere. It's part of the experience.

But more importantly, WHY THE FUCK are you muting all sounds?! You miss TONS of narrative cues there. It varies per VN, but often things are told in images and sounds only, rather than text. If you were to play Umineko with its sound muted, you'd miss lots and lots because there are things only told with sound.

Don't mute a VN's sound. Seriously.

>> No.7395463

The music is half the fun of a VN, at least for me. Why would I ever listen to something else while reading the VN ?

>> No.7395469

Decent troll or total retard, I'm not sure. The attached picture makes me incline towards the latter. Either way I'm hiding this thread, goodbye.

>Pantera

The only game I'd bother changing music for would be Touhou

some music never gets old. gonzou wouldn't be nearly as badass without his tchaikovsky remix anthem.

Okay, OP. I chuckled at your image, I will give you that. But next time, put on something more brutal, like Aborted or Skinless or Benighted.

As far as your question goes, I do not listen to something else while reading my VNs.

>> No.7396145

The only game where replacing the music is acceptable is Tsukihime, especially because you can literally replace the music.

A friend of mine used the Persona 4 soundtrack. Tsukihime is now Shiki Tohno's Jazzy Life.

>> No.7396176

I can't believe metalfags are actually proud of the crap they listen to and want to show it off.

>> No.7396186

It depends.

>> No.7396223

I played Tsukihime with The Flashbulb's album Soundtrack to a Vacant Life playing in the background. It actually fit ridiculously well after I removed a couple songs with vocals, and I suspect this was a very large part of why I loved Tsukihime so much.

Replacing the music in most other VNs would be faggotry, though. Some other unvoiced VNs with lots of text could probably have the music substituted for whatever ambient music you liked, but there aren't very many of those nowadays.

>> No.7396224

Absolutely not. I'd feel really uncomfortable not hearing the music the game is supposed to have, like I missed part of it or something. The composers are obviously creating and inserting the music with the aim of evoking certain feelings or moods in you, changing tracks is kinda wasting all of that.

>> No.7396239

In my opinion, the sound is just as much a part of a VN as the visuals. Both complement the text to create the overall experience.

If a track is especially awful or repetitive I'm likely to turn the volume lower, but I wouldn't mute or replace it.

>> No.7396249

I liked the Tsukihime OST, so I didn't replace it. Had some nice piano tracks on there.

>> No.7396285

IF the VN is good I listen to the original.
Since VN are shit in general I always listen to piano or jazz.

I replaced all of Tsukihime's tracks with Yakety Sax.

>> No.7396347

I remember playing through Kana Imouto in one sitting with the Bitches Brew sessions and those rehearsal bootlegs playing in the background because I was too lazy to get the BGM to work.

>crap they listen to and want to show it off.
It's not crap, it's music.

>> No.7397061

I don't. Only exception is if I emulate some VN with this ancient computer since the music don't play properly then.
