My experience of the community is their chatroom, and watching them occasionally ostracize people.

What I saw was a weird situation where half the people there wanted sexual favors and the other half wanted to be best friends.

It is in my opinion that it's stupid to gossip, talk behind people's backs, and try to garner hate in an already shaky community. We need to support each other and help each other.

Fetish stuff WILL happen, speaking out against it won't change anything. Keep these things behind closed doors, that is how it's worked and worked well over time. People who don't want to see it don't have too, and it keeps a safer and presentable image for anyone who has even a passing interest. Every community has an "underside" and that is OKAY. It's polite and beneficial for everyone to have it stay on the underside for those who want to find it.

It is also in my opinion that kigurumi performers should view themselves as artists and act accordingly. Critiques and suggestions should be welcomed, not whined about. Use better cameras, learn how to light and compose properly, and don't be satisfied with sub-par work. Many people see kigurumi as a visual and performing art (even people who find it attractive) so a kig should know their craft before going public with it. If your photos are dark and grainy and your suit-acting is stilted and hesitant, you should expect people to criticize you. We should be helping each other create the best quality works that we can, not filling ourselves with pride and hate and bitterness. We should NOT BE AFRAID TO CRITIQUE OTHERS. Saying it behind their backs won't do anything. Proper, polite critique is very easy to do any benefits everyone. If they can't handle even an honest assessment, they need to shape up or find a new hobby.

Heck one thing I like about Wyu is that she WILL offer improvement suggestions in the "mask making" forum. (Opinions on Wyu's own quality aside) Saying "you should try to use an anime figurine as a reference" is a bit of a roundabout way of doing it, could be more direct, but it's more than most people are brave enough to do.
If I were to start a mask, I'd do it here, so if someone actually wanted to tell me "it's hideous, start over", they could say it.

Hey, let me ask you a strange question. Is it safe to have strong magnets near the sides of your head for long periods of time?
