Do you want resolution to the mystery presented in the first half of the series? Then no, because there isn't one (which is the point).

Do you want resolution to the STORY? Then yes, because that IS what this episode is about and it's quite an entertaining resolution too.

The reason episode 8 is hated in Japan isn't simply because it's bad in itself.
It's more due to the fact that the overall mystery of Umineko is horrible and lots of people hoped till the end that something could salvage it.
So it's more like they pushed back the shitstorm till the last episode when it finally exploded.

Then there is the fact that it's not really a good episode too, try too much to force the momentum and is far too preachy in a bad way.

You have to answer correctly the questions of the same group. If you fail one, you won't have the extra scene.
