Do you want resolution to the mystery presented in the first half of the series? Then no, because there isn't one (which is the point).

Do you want resolution to the STORY? Then yes, because that IS what this episode is about and it's quite an entertaining resolution too.

>> No.7330405

The reason episode 8 is hated in Japan isn't simply because it's bad in itself.
It's more due to the fact that the overall mystery of Umineko is horrible and lots of people hoped till the end that something could salvage it.
So it's more like they pushed back the shitstorm till the last episode when it finally exploded.

Then there is the fact that it's not really a good episode too, try too much to force the momentum and is far too preachy in a bad way.

>> No.7330415

>>7330405

No, it's because they wanted it to be Higurashi, which it isn't.

>Do you want resolution to the mystery presented in the first half of the series?
Except an entire episode 7 was dedicated to solving this Beatrice's mystery.
>Then no, because there isn't one (which is the point).
There is no *definite* solution to the real events on the island, because they weren't mysterious. No culprit would actually follow some stupid ceremony and create locked rooms in reality.
But the truth is very strongly hinted at, so if you aren't delusional, like Ange, you can understand it.

>> No.7330431

Stop trying to put words in the mouths of others.
It's a fact that the mystery was a huge part of Umineko, this is what interested people and what they talked about, they have the right to be angry when it ended up being so terrible.

And by the end of episode you really have the feeling that even Ryuukishi didn't know what he wanted Umineko to be.

>> No.7330444

Rokkenjima prime doesn't matter and isn't what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about the game between the gamemaster and the detective which was the main point of the game, this was the mystery part and what needed to be solved, it was solved too. In an utterly horrible way.
This is what people thought could be salvaged in episode 8.

'The mystery of Beatrice', yes, not 'Beatrice's mysteries'.

Oh yeah, sure, but it's not the spoonfed resolution people wanted.

Most of the complaints I read on AS, at least, were just huge walls of text endlessly restating NOT MISSTURY and failing to realize that it not being a traditional mystery was kind of the point.

Fun fact - If you hack the game script to get more than the maximum possible number of medals, then instead of a normal prize, Ange will wake up from her nap to find Tomitake Jirou under the covers with her.

Yeah, there's no penalty for Eva's hints, and the hint scenes are entertaining too, so you should look at them before you answer even if you don't need to.

I'm reading the last two episodes in a row when they are fully translated. Until then I won't be participating in Umineko thread discussions.

I'm at the part where you have to manually solve the mystery.

I WILL DO THIS.

>> No.7331248

It's kind of funny how dramatically they're releasing it, what with the bold text and colored showtime and all. Because hardly anyone cares anymore, especially when it's only 50%.

It's different, because it's not Erika who said those reds. They aren't even based on any of her observations.

Of Chiru, 5>6>7.
Overall 1>3>4>5>6>2>7

>> No.7331275

8 is the worst of Chiru. It consists entirely of insulting the reader, hammering the same points the previous episodes already conveyed, AWESOME!!! meta battles with no purpose, and amnesia.

Nice try to... what? What was I supposed to be trying to do?

I'm pointing out that it's no longer appropriate to do that, because there's no longer any interest.

Most people prefer 1-4 to Chiru and Erika wasn't in those.

>> No.7331304

I think it's pointless to view the original and Chiru as the same game. They're very different stories, although one continues the plot of the other.

So.
