Anyone play any fighting games competitively like some SSF4?

>> No.7324939

SSF4 is boring. Play ST instead. SFA2 or 3s are fine too I guess.

SFA3 isn't very good either.

>>7324958
It's funny because most SF4 players say that Blazblue is too fast and confusing. And BB is a slow paced air dasher.

MvC3 is objectively shitty. It takes nothing from its predecessors and gets rid of tons of good characters so that it can add shitty ones.

Since I am new the only SNK fighter I played was Fatal Fury on the PS. KoF XIII looks interesting. I am also waiting for SFxT, since I was a Tekken fan boy then when I came back to the Fighter genre I picked up SSF4 so both of them coming together seems interesting :)

Yeah, I am, or was. Pretty heavily.

Unfortunately there is simply no one good in this region of the world, and getting out of here to get real competition or go to tournaments is very expensive. I'm a little disheartened right now, I used to be able to just ignore it and try hard but recently I kind of lost the will to do so.

It's just not possible to be #1 when you have no access to players that can strategize, much less do combos or even understand frame data and more complex aspects of their character. Especially when actual top players have access to playing hundreds of people all with different styles who are capable of these things(that's half of the reason they're top).

I don't think many people really have an appreciation for the above. You'd have to live in the middle of nowhere and actually have tried to understand. And I'm not talking about the kind of "middle of nowhere" in the United States where it only costs about 100$ or less to get out and fight good competition, more like 700$.

I love SSF4, but I'm pretty bad at it. I tried going offline to play against other people, but I just go dominated by a Makoto and a few Rufuses.

I'd still be playing if Arcana Heart didn't come out and PSN didn't go down.

Well...There are still extremely dry areas in the US for some fighting games. Especially airdashers and non-Capcom/Namco games, where there'll be maybe one or two good players per region and one region where there's 30-something, which could damn well be on the other side of the country.

Or it could be like Blazblue, where there's only large amounts of good players in certain areas and nothing but terrible players with a couple skilled ones in most.

KoF in particular, though, is extremely hard to find competition for in the US. Almost nobody plays the damn game offline and those who do tend to be lazy as all hell.

Some of us can be friendly, even the top players, but oftentimes it's pointless fighting good people if you're not serious about the game because it doesn't really even feel like a game for either side.

In the end, if you're interested you can generally just find a public session or tournament to go to and if you decide they're just a bunch of bad apples then don't play with them. Everyone is different and some people/communities will have bad attitudes, but I'd like to think most of us are at least reasonable.

>> No.7325625

>>7325207
Also, if you're not serious about the game and don't really want to compete with the top, the less skilled fighting game players may prove fun to play with.

A lot of them have been stuck there for a long time and are pretty humbled, and many aren't really that serious about the game but just enjoy the competitive scene. So even if the top players in your area happen to be jerks, there's no need to play with them.

when I went to EVO last year I had never seen so many NICE people cramped in the same place.

politeness, politeness and good taste everywhere, and they all where so GOOD in any kind of 2D fighter.

it seems like the the bad players are the only assholes of the community, it kinda makes sense to me because its really easy to do bad in a fighter if you lose control, good players usually have a lot of peace in their minds.

>> No.7325699

>>7325640
i suspect that the less-skilled people at evo who are assholes about the game are probably people without much/any tournament experience but are the best where they live and are out to prove themselves.
