I slept on deciding if I should get that Ganguro Triela. Will not get, too orange.

Any more of the new griffon touhou figures? Can't wait to buy them all.... but then thats a fair bit of my figure budget gone...

I'm preparing for yet another purchase, but there is too much to choose from. I've learned a couple of things in the past. 1) Don't buy figures that require assembly. 2) Don't buy heavy statues out of Resin.

But there still is a lot more to learn. Like if there is any benefit in focusing on the same ratio of figures to make them more even on a shelf. And if one should buy a ton at once, or some at a time. How likely you are to get something by preordering/backordering a model.

Though in the end the hardest part is always choosing what to buy. I'm leaning towards things with cast offs, or very frilly hair, alternatively thigh highs.

They better not screw up Okuu or I will be pissed.

Got my Youmu Nendoroid in yesterday.

I kinda have a rule about taking certain kinds of figures out of the package. My PVCs all get displayed but action-type figures like figmas and Nendoroids usually stay in the box.

I usually wouldn't bother using EMS for small orders. As long as there isn't anything rare in your order or you got a shitty delivery man probably nothing will go wrong. But when orders go above the 8000-10000 yen line I'd still use it for peace of mind. It's not like that 1000 yen more or less will matter within those price ranges.

Griffon's figures for the longest time suffered a LOT of problems with facial expressions and poses; namely, there was no clear difference with any faces and barely any with the poses. They seem to be fixing this, and newer Griffon trumps the older stuff in every possible way. I think it started with the Gugnir Remilia, but I could be wrong.

Guys, I'm about to order this, but I'm worried about one thing. There are 12 figures that come with this and 14 in total. Not a big problem, but what worries me is if this thing comes with duplicates. I know Good Smile is nice enough to give you a sealed factory package that comes with no dupes when you order a full pack of Nendoroid Petits from them, but what do Toy Works do?

I'd have to buy this and end up with 8/12 of the figures being duplicates and have to deal with auctioning them off.

I can only speak from my experience, but when I ordered it I got everything except the Sae and Hiro in gym clothes. I may have just been extremely lucky, but I did notice that the 3 sets were in the same rows, except for the "gym clothes" set row which had Yoshinoya and Ume-sensei.

I'm would think they would at least varied set per box to have an even distribution and to avoid people picking up two of the same and asking for refunds. The FREEing set I ordered in the past was like this.

Cool, I guess there's nothing to do but just wait and hope they're not mean enough to give dupes. Good Smile makes sure you don't get dupes on their trading figures when you order them in sets, hopefully Toy Works does the same.

First, what are the size of those ? What would be the equivalent of a 1/7 and 1/8 girl ?

I know there are are some you have to assemble yourself, are those difficult to build up ? I'm not very skillfull with my hands, I'm scared of screwing up, and if the instructions are in japanese can a gaijin read them ? Maybe if someone have a picture of one before it's built.

About the ones you don't need to assemble, I know bandai manufacture some, do some have joints and you can play with ? I'm afraid those would be kinda small...

In general, what manufacturers would you recommand ?

The size vary for different 'grades' and for different models.

Excuse the garbage photo, but here's a little comparison. The Mokou is 1/8, the mini RX-78 is a "Real Grade" but I don't think there are many of those. The crossbone beside is a master grade. 1/100 scale maybe?

They are easy to put together. You can mess up I guess, but it's still kind of forgiving. The instructions are in Japanese but they are all pictures essentially and the parts are numbered, so you don't need to know any to put them together.

Manufacturers, I guess for Gundam specifically you'd just get Bandai. Kotoubukiya makes some kits as well but I don't think they make Gundam ones. I started a new armored core one yesterday.

Just got into them myself. Most common scales are 1/144 (High Grade) and 1/100 (Master Grade) but different lines of kits exist with different levels of detail and different price points. 1/144 is about the size of your average action figure, I think. Or just look up the size of the suit you're interested in and divide by 144.

The instructions generally do not require any Japanese knowledge. They're like IKEA instructions, seriously. There's not much there to screw up besides cutting your own fingers when removing the little nubs of excess plastic.

I actually was not aware that there was more than one Gundam manufacturer. Just go to your local Asian mall and look around.

Don't tell /m/ this, but I just use a basic modelling knife. I screw up a whole lot but unless you're subjecting it to close scrutiny you probably won't notice most of the markings. I don't even paint them, since they're generally molded in the proper colours!

Just came in today...absolutely gorgeous.

GKs too, yeah. But I'm going to be careful when buying one. I actually have the GK version of Phat Company's Yukari. I still haven't painted it since I know jack shit about quality painting (and the fear of mistakes i might make). It's kind of regretful knowing that the GK you bought will be mass produced some time later.

Also have that swimsuit Youmu but I never opened it. I don't even like the thought of messing up such a nice GK.
