A good eroge would not be good without the ero scenes. A good eroge would use ero only when necessary and when it is important to the story so by removing the ero, you remove important elements to the story that either add to plot or sympathy with the characters.

Those scenes that gives the impression that they just threw them in to meet the minimum expectations for ero content also tend to be the most uninspired and dull scenes. Generic scenes are pointless, since you can get that anywhere. A good eroge have to exploit the strengths of its genre to give an experience that you cannot get with normal porn, like attachment to the characters and a developed relationship between them.

Games that can sell well without ero are the exceptions, how many people do you think would buy all those dime a dozen character games if it wasn't for fuckable heroines? Otaku looks in those games what they can't get in real life, and fucking your girlfriend is part of the experience. Take that away and you have boring, uninspired games about nothing. It's fine if it's not your thing/what you're looking for, but wondering why a whole fucking genre doesn't make away with "unnecessary ero" is being so dense it's sad.

And there's also the occasional scenarioge which tries to incorporate galge elements, but ends up doing it really half-assedly, which makes me which they could just stick to what they're good at.

If there were no h-scenes in an eroge, no one would be motivated to play it unless the plot or characters really make up for it.

most of us go by 2ch habits since they have eroge boards, and not bijuaru noberu boards, there isn't anything deep about it. I rarely use visual novel because it personally sounds really pretentious, eroge and galge describe 98% of the shit that actually matters.

If a game really wants to pride itself on its characters and story, why not just make it non-ero so that it can appeal to a larger audience?

There's some games out there that have random H-scenes (like Tears to Tiara), that seem to break the atmosphere of the game just for the sake of giving people fap material. Yes, they did release some all-ages versions afterward, but it's still really disturbing to know that they thought it would be a good idea to subject their characters to such tasteless events originally.

Don't you guys hate when there's a cute girl without an ero scene? How could you deal with that for the whole cast?

1st H-scene: Cute, "turn the lights out because she's embarassed", ask her if she's okay, etc.
2nd H-scene: Sex in public (park, school roof, library, etc.) because the main character gets horny
3rd H-scene: Bondage play with toys, possibly simulated rape

So, what do you guys think about porn with plot? Before I became a full masochist, I used to love those rape adventure games, where the main point of the story is that the protagonist rapes various girls, but there's actually a lot of story before each ero scene.
