7253117 No.7253117 [Reply] [Original]

>It’s weird how some of the (few) people who try to support my review advance this argument, when it’s completely untrue. I do think Chaos;Head is better than SubaHibi (by a small margin, but who cares about that).

>Without arguing the relative pros and cons of Chaos;Head and SubaHibi, I’ll just point out that everyone I know thinks C;H is far far worse than 9/10, and it’s very unusual for my scores to be that far from general opinion. So any attempt to criticize my SubaHibi review based on a comparison to the C;H one is pointless, because the real issue there (whatever it is) is unique to C;H and has nothing to do with any of the other games I’ve played.

>Now to very briefly sum up my opinion on said relative pros/cons: Every criticism I’ve ever seen of C;H has, frankly, been laughable. I don’t see how any of them are valid and it baffles me how many people agree with them. The big thing that did bug me about C;H was that it failed to explain everything. SubaHibi also failed to explain everything (though it came significantly closer, hence it could’ve been 9.5), and on top of that had a ton of unnecessary text.

>I will probably not respond to anyone trying to convince me C;H was shit.

>> No.7253157

Does he just ignore all the dropped elements?
Does he ignore the Bleach-like ending?
Does he ignore all the "lol its science, i ain't gotta explain shit" in C;H?
Does he ignore that if you skip text in anything that your opinion on a piece of fiction is not valid? I bet he skipped all the parts that made C;H bad too...

Ixrec is only being this gay for attention, I bet his Japanese wasn't even good enough to understand SubaHibi.

I dont really get that chaos head hate,I thought it was a pretty interesting vn and a very interesting main character, I like hiki/geek mcs, its different. Sure the ending could of had a bit more, but it at least kept me into it for the whole read. I never once felt like i was bored while reading it. We should have more mcs like him.

Sorry, but your criticism is laughable.
Seriously, was everyone half-asleep when they read C;H?
Read it again, pay attention this time. For example, to where the silly science in the game actually originated from.

Yes and they dropped that concept for super hero shit.

The art, most of the story, and the music is nice, the unwarranted hate train is high on Valusia

C;H is not as bad as people make it out to be, but that doesn't mean it's good.

People are just mad at the hype and the fact that it could have been an all-timer if it didn't piss away the last third of its story with mediocrity and lol science.

Ixrec's opinion just means that much, if he and Moogy says that it is not getting translated then it was never worth getting translated and that people who like it and want it translated are wrong.

I agree that Chaos;Head is not a bad VN at all. I recently started replaying it, and even though I didn't hold a negative opinion of it, it still was a lot better than I remembered it to be. Yes, it doesn't have a brilliant Ever17-like solution. Yes, it does have a shonen-like ending even though the rest of the game is completely different.

But holy fuck, the atmosphere is amazing. When I first played Chaos;Head, I was relatively new to VNs, so I didn't notice all of the small details, but everything is just so polished. The graphics look good, but more importantly, they convey exactly what they should convey. The story is exciting, even if it may not seem as exciting in hindsight.

But most of all, I'm impressed with the sound design. It's amazing. Beyond amazing. Everywhere you go, there's a different soundscape giving you the impression you really are at the location Takumi is at. Every little action has its own sound. The voice acting is great, and so is the music.

Everything together builds what is still the best suspenseful atmosphere I've ever seen in a VN. Chaos;Head definitely doesn't deserve all of the flak it's getting.

Yes. Great settings, atmosphere and all the other wasted potential because of a piss poor second half.

>> No.7253614

>>7253587
That second half RUINED EVERYTHING.
The only thing that got nearly as great as the atmosphere/horror in the first half was the mystery solving near the end.

It was good when you thought everything was a delusion of Takumi, how horrified and irratable Takumi was, and introducing the batshit insane "heroines."
They should have took that theme further than they did, the MC was a great to read even if he wasn't a good person.

When they introduced Shogun and Rimi being his underling, I facepalmed IRL.

Yeah, it totally threw me off what I thought the game was gonna be about, dealing with your delusions and paranoia, into a sci-fi piece of fiction. I like sci-fi but not in this story.

I'm a little biased about C;H, as it was the first VN I've read in Japanese (yes, before the translation patch), but I do agree that the latter third was pretty weak. The characters are also underdeveloped, except for the one who was made to be as unsympathetic as possible. Still, it had its nice episodes, and it gave us FES and her godlike songs, so it's good enough for babby's first denpa.

>> No.7254345

wait, he's translating sharnoth? now I don't mind his faggotry as much.

damn if only someone will translate ruitomo with its fd, which (combined) is better than SH in most regards imo.

>> No.7255294

So how did NOAH change the ending? I will never be able to read it..

>> No.7255315

>admit to having skipped flashbacks in Cross Channel, which are actually different from each other and are supposed to slowly unveil what really happened, and give it perfect score
>skip parts of Subarashiki Hibi where you're supposed to reflect on the same thing seen from different points of views, give it shit score
why are people listening to his reviews at all? Looks like all he cares about is "getting the story" without caring about how it's presented no matter how beautiful the script, which is why difficult to understand shit like Liarsoft is given high ratings.
I mean seriously, who didn't get Subahibi's story after the second chapter? That's not the point of game and thinking it's a bad game because you realized what was going on makes you so pretentious I'm popping a vein here.

>> No.7255428

I used to be a fan of Amaterasu, but lately they've been attention whoring and being all elitist, I don't like it.

I feel like Ixrec gave a low score to SubaHibi because many others have rated it highly, so he needs to show how he has higher standards by not enjoying it and nitpicking. It's disgusting how he calls other people's criticisms of C;H "laughable", it just looks narcissistic: "my opinion >>> your opinion"... it's okay to say you don't agree with it, but "laughable", the only possible purpose behind using that kind of a word is to belittle other people's opinions and insult them.
