What is your dad like when he see you playing VN or watching anime?

>> No.7252929

I wouldn't know because he's dead.

>> No.7252935

I don't show my dad those things.

He gets annoying with the backseat gaming when I play RPGs though.

>> No.7252945

My dad doesn't know about these things. I hope.

>> No.7252946

I don't have a dad.

Which is probably somehow part of why I play VNs in the first place.

>> No.7252944

>>7252929
This.
He bought the box back in 2006.

>> No.7252957

I can't imagine why you would want to do either in front of your parents.

>> No.7252960

All my dad knows is infrequent glances at the monitor when I'm playing Touhou. The flashing lights of Touhou are generally more eye-catching than the girls to onlookers, so I don't mind playing it in public.

>> No.7252973

If I'm watching something people around here just assume it's DBZ or Pokemon.

If I'm playing Touhou then people just assume it's Gradius.

>> No.7252980

For him to see, I'd either need to be out of it as fuck, or he'd need to climb around on the walls and the ceiling to prevent alerting me to his presence and get behind me to even see my laptop monitor.

>> No.7252987

How would my dad feel about me masturbating to drawings of girls that look like they are 10?

>> No.7252993

Before I was kicked out, he viewed my interests as something "you either get or your don't."

He made somewhat of an effort to watch some anime (Miyazaki and Kon, mostly) and read the occasional manga I would recommend (Tatsumi and Tezuka, mostly). He viewed my figures as creepy and weird, but didn't say too much about them. I introduced him to Touhou, which he still enjoys playing , though he probably couldn't name more than two characters.

>> No.7253000

>>7252993
Sounds like you were lucky. After I showed him some Miyazaki and stuff like Kaiji, I tried to show him K-ON, and that was pretty much the reason he kicked me out.

What a wonderful dad you have, taking interest in your interests.
My parents don't seem to care at all. Maybe that's rather good...

>> No.7253016

My dad currently watches more anime then I do.

Which was fine when it was black lagoon on starz and ghost in the shell. But I think he's been watching sekirei on netflix and thats just fucking creepy.

He was angrier. He was pretty mad that I really spent my time watching cute girls do cute thing while he paid for everything. Video games were somehow more tolerable, he would have gotten used to it a decade ago.

I enjoy the NEET, lonely life in a house I own, living on decent wellfare that allows some basic luxuries like a motorbike and importing random crap from Japan without anyone busting my balls or questioning me.

The pleasure of listening to 3 minutes and 23 seconds of Remilia fingering Flander on 100W speakers and a 150W subwoofer at high volumes.

I only play late at night while everyone is in bed with my door closed, or while everyone is out.

I get caught a couple times, but only watching manly hot blooded stuff like Gundam Unicorn.

I've kept it a complete secret for the past five or so years, but when Madoka BD's come out I'm going to come out of the closet and make my whole family sit down and watch it with me. Subbed. I'm 23.

Bad idea, /jp/?

I'm glad I have you guys to stop me from making a big mistake. My dad would probably never look at me the same again and I'd probably turn my little brother into a weaboo.

Still, while I'm watching the Madoka finale tomorrow I will be thinking how fun it would be to watch it with them or some friends (if I had any). Why can't people accept us, /jp/? Are we really that wrong?

By hiding your abnormal interests, you're contributing to the lack of acceptance. Of course, don't force it upon like a missionary, just act like it's normal. There's nothing to worry about, your family would only be intrigued.

>> No.7253173

He thought Kaiji was cool and that I had unique interest and an open mind, he said he respected me for it. He also thought touhou was a fun game when he played it but hard, he said the art looked weird but the music was cool and the danmaku was trippy.
He fell asleep during LoGH though...

I left my family as soon as I could, 6 years ago when I was 17. I think I had the worst father out of everyone else here. He was in his fifties and was a complete weaboo except wouldn't actually watch anime or read manga. Worst part was my family was rich, so he would go twice a year to Japan. I don't know if he still does, but I hope for the sake of the Japanese that he's dead by now. I may not be as rich as if I stayed with my parents but its saved me a lifetime of headaches and rage. All they knew was I was into anime, but they thought I was just into gundam, which I was never really into, did briefly gundam wing for about a week.
