Well, they still don't really know the full scale of the G Bombs, but they fuck with gravity enough that stuff won't grow in an affected area, so if they were to use enough to wipe out the BETA on the moon, I figure the effect might add up to be something significant. I don't know.

Did you miss the end?
The G Bombs along with some G Elements were essentially the catalyst for Sumika being able to do what she did. It's why there was so little of the stuff in the Yokohama hive.
Though, that could have been some as of yet unknown G Element, which the bombs provided the energy to activate or something. I don't know get someone to translate the Integral Works segment on G Bombs or something.

>> No.7182754

>>7182731

The G Bomb caused gravitational anomales which allowed Sumika's will to pull a Shirogane Takeru out of an adjacent parallel world, namely Extra. This was in exchange for G Elements (I'm not sure if the elements were sent to Extra or were consumed as energy for the process). She pulled Takeru from Sumika's Route right after their date, but he lost a lot of memories. Memory information from the other routes were poured into him as a substitute. He then looped inifnitely through parallel versions of Unlimited (hence why it's called Unlimited) until the aggregate information created Alternative Takeru.

Unlimited isn't the same world as Alternative, it's just a very similar one. The only distinguishable difference is Meiya isn't related to the Emperor, but the Shogun.

The moon and Mars should still be able to, but the moon hasn't had human contact in 30 odd years, so assuming they use a 00 Unit, to acquire info on the Hives on the moon and ascertain which one possesses a Superior, they should be able to strike pretty decisively.

Because the BETA command chain is entirely dependent on the now-deceased BETA Commanderthere should be no problem with retaking a Hive and using the reactor for ODL purification. The information shouldn't have anywhere to go anymore [on Earth at least] so we can pump out an army of 00 units and not have to worry about data leaks. I don't think that retaking the Moon would be that hard, even without G-bombs. The BETA there haven't learned about our tactics, so we could just orbitally drop a 00 unit, learn the location and schematics of the Original Hive, and then fuck it up with a couple of orbitally-dropped Susano'os.

This is why you play very easy and still rage. Basically you better damn know strategy or you will get your ass raped.
>>7182910
Dude taking hives back isn't any easier then before. The BETA didn't just turn stupid, they still have all the knowledge. They just can't get anymore. Not to mention most of humanity just chucked the majority of their resources on Alternative 4 meaning they'll be rebuilding for a while.

As for the moon. THEY DON'T NEED STRATEGY WHEN THEY CAN JUST GET A COUPLE THOUSANDS-MILLIONS OF LASERS TO BLARG ON YOUR ASS.

>> No.7182955

>>7182910

We don't know how far the reactors connect. Best case scenario is no off-world communication. The BETA on Earth are guaranteed to still be capable of anti-human strategy like what they showed against Sadogashima, Yokohama and Kashgar, but they can't adapt anymore without the Superior to give plans. This allows humanity the time to take over the remaining reactors and G Elements on Earth.

However, BETA will return to Earth from the Moon and Mars, so humans will have to take the battle to them. If there is off-world communication, the BETA on Moon and Mars will already be prepared for human tactics.

Even with 00 Units, XG-70 and G Bombs, humanity is at a huge disadvantage if the BETA know their tactics simply because of numbers. The humans will need new tech like reverse engineering Lux-class lasers as weapons to be capable of fighting BETA in space.

Let's not forget that humans don't have advanced starship capabilities either, most of that was devoted to the now aborted Alternative V. Humans retaking Earth is a pretty much guaranteed deal if armies can be rebuild following Operation Cherry Blossom, but surviving beyond that is a lot more uncertain.

I think you meant Sumika. I really cant hate Sumika anymore after Yuuko exposed her diaries.

I liked Sumika in Extra a lot after she was developed a little more and it was heart breaking to pick any heroine over her. Sumika in Alternative was fantastic as well journals and the whole never stop thinking about Takeru and all the other things Kasumi revealed at the end had incredible emotional impact.

>friendzoned and listening to Takeru/Sumika lovey dovey conversation was pretty ;_; worthy.
As one anon said "you can actually see her heart breaking" during that scene, throughout the game she is friendzoned hard. I can't even imagine what it must have been like when Takeru was screaming about Sumika during the attempted rape

>> No.7183685

>>7183640

You couldn't hate Sumika in Extra if you pay attention, either. Her idiot personality is her way of trying to make herself unique, because there are so many other girls competing for Takeru and she's inferior to all of them, and Takeru himself. She's completely aware the only thing she had going for Takeru was being his childhood friend, and even Meiya took that away from her.

Her end in Extra is glorious because of the utter joy you bring to her when picking her. There really is no good reason to pick Sumika once you learn Meiya's past, but Takeru picked her anyway. It's like her dream coming true.

The diaries are just to emphasize that Sumika loves Takeru almost unconditionally, always. No matter what he's been through, no matter where he is, she'll always love him forever because as far as she's concerned, a world she lives in but doesn't have Takeru can't exist. And even if he stops existing, she'll just bring him back.

When I first played Extra, I thought Sumika only saw Takeru as a childhood friend and was forced to try and take him as a man just so she wouldn't lose him to Meiya. When in fact, she's loved him romantically ever since they were children. Definitely raised my opinion of her a few pegs.

Sumika expected they'd hold that relationship up through Hakuryou University.

The Jouisonzai (lit., Super Existence, not "Superior" as you people call it, maybe from a bad translation) was just the brains of the operation; it did things like handle strategy, setup special ops (actions to prevent serious accidents) and performed "investigations" (gang tentacle rape, brain pickling). It's an AI controller of a resource-collection system, not a supreme commander of an alien space army.

By taking out the Jouisonzai, humanity now has a real chance of re-taking the planet before it's completely wiped out from resource collection. Taking on each Hive is still a brutally difficult task, but possible without facing a crushing retaliation in response.

If the Jouisonzai had survived (or if it shares data with others in Sol), it probably would have engineered a solution for G-Bombs. But maybe not; as mentioned above, it's just a CPU for an automated mining system. Tentacle rape and jarring brains may have been the limit of it's science abilities.

It's virtually ubiquitous as a colloquial method of abbreviation and so rampant on the internet it had might as well be made official. It makes more sense to incorporate into the system anyways, for a number of reasons including but not limited to the fact that it generally does not result in increased acronym letter length and that it makes interpretation easier.

Did the partner in question show that they he (or she) was superior to BETA-Tan?

Bonus:
If BETA-Tan wanted to have aggressive intercourse nearly every night, would you be able to handle it?

There's a bit of confusion here, "Muv-Luv Alternative Chronicles" was first the name of the other half of the AyuMayu Alternative fandisc. It contains "Atonement" (Marimo's backstory) and "Succession" (Michiru's siblings in the aftermath of the Sadogashima Hive battle)

The name got reused for Chronicles 01 (contains TDA 00, Chicken Divers, Rain Dancers and BETA-tan, which is more of a joke omake than anything else) and the subsequent installments.

When I first read this years ago I thought the coup de'tat arch was silly -- Japan was teetering on the edge of being overrun by BETA, and these fuckwits start a nationalist uprising. it wasn't until I read it again last year did I feel the message. It was Tsuyomi's scene that did it for me -- she was like "What if we could surrender to the BETA, and Japan had to follow the rules of the BETA from then on? Is that really surviving?" And you know -- it's not. Having one's culture and society die, having one's freedom destroyed is the same as death -- you're just a corpse then existing for a short while until your body stops functioning. There is more to human life than just being alive.

I interpreted that arc in a weirder way. Like how there's no point of humanity's victory if we can't do it with heads held high. Humanity will die and become like the BETA or animals if it loses what makes it "humane".

Marimo herself summarizes what happened (except for the training and Combat Exam parts) during pep talk to Takeru in Chapter 7. It reveals several things, though:
1. Marimo's former squad leader (and possibly crush) pushed her away from the line of fire of a Magnus Lux and got burned to a crisp in the process, pic related.

Marimo did mention that she was part of an Imperial Army Instructional Unit (probably the Fuji one? might explain her reaction when that unit defected to the coup d'etat forces) so I guess she was assigned the sergeant rank while on secondment to the UN.

We obviously have no way of knowing the truth, but I think it was on purpose. Reviewing CGs is, in a way, "disassembling" the game, you cut it into the pictures and the scenes and look at them with a "cold" mindset since you already played through it. Denying the possibility of doing that leaves a stronger impression on the game cohesiveness and the emotional rollercoaster that grips you and doesn't let go.

>>7185119

Marimo was a 2nd Lieutenaunt in the Imperial Army, but when she was traded to the UN she was demoted to Sergeant. That wasn't a bad thing because it allowed her to be an instructor with actual pro TSF experience (remember TSF pilots were so badly needed, if you could pilot you were conscripted) for the Alternative Plan candidates. Marimo and Yuuko are a big reason A 01 was full of elites before Takeru and his XM3 came along, it's the closest thing the UN has to Imperial Japan's Fuji Institute.

Asked before but no one knew.

Yeah, but it was just so difficult to believe that the BETA would do a thing like that. I mean, before this they stress time and time again that the BETA basically see humans as the equivalent of rocks or something, and then suddenly tentacle rape out of fucking nowhere. It just seemed a little bit forced to me.

>> No.7186108

>>7186092

Why? Because of the rape itself, or just the scene? I thought the scene was pretty stupid but the fact she was raped seemed pretty powerful. Considering Sumika's personaity, it would require something like that for her to reject Takeru. Afterall, Takeru himself was very guilty about the idea that he'd cheated on Sumika with his squad in prior loops.

Don't forget that if you weren't the only one surprised. Yuuko gave a pretty funny "lol wut" when Takeru told her.

>> No.7186115

>>7186103

That age made it campy tentacle rape sort of ruined it. I mean the whole inflating Sumika's breasts so they'd be more sensitive...that's pretty cheesy, even for BETA.

I could have imagined the BETA violating her to pull out her organs and stuff, causing her immense pain while stimulating her pleasure sense so she wouldn't go insane and die of exhaustion. You'd keep the sense of guilt and filth, but lose the silliness.

>> No.7186116

Takeru's attitude toward it was pretty GAR. He was more concerned with how badass his AU self was rather than shocked at what happened. So, you're saying the reason we find it hot is because age intended it that way so Takeru's undying devotion wouldn't come across as emotionally unrealistic?

I didn't really like either of them. The first was kind of tragic and shocking, the second felt sad since it was basically a reaction to the first.

I got the impression that its supposed to be love & understanding overcoming ecstasy and guilt, but the sex scene happening right after the rape kind of dulled the impact for me. I guess Sumika being my favorite character didn't help. Nor did Takeru's giant eyebrows.

If you completely ignore the details of the tentacle rape the proper H scene with Sumika came out really sweet. I won't lie, I fucking hated most of the H in Muv-Luv (it's the same unbearable, awkward shit I see in every other eroge) but I loved that final scene with Sumika. As >>7186287 says it's the culmination of three narratives worth of buildup and was the purest love. Detail wise it's not much different from the first H scene they had in Extra, but better music + all that emotional weight really made a huge difference in my attitude toward it. Normally when I read H I feel some envy because the protagonist is shitty and things are awkward, but he's fucking hot girls anyway. Yet, I couldn't have been prouder of Takeru than if I was his Dad, and the scene rolled out of the gate with confidence.

The Jouisonzai never said that humans weren't alive, but it did make a distinction between "seimetai" (life-form) and an artificial life-form. It based this distinction on what it believed to be a scientific fact of the impossibility of carbon-based lifeforms on developing into life on its own. Might I ask what the relationship between Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative is? Since Muv-Luv was the original, was it not? And remains untranslated? Would this affect one's reading?

>> No.7187764

>>7187752
Muv-Luv was translated before Alternative was, by the same guy. Basically, Muv-Luv Extra is kind of a parody of your typical school-life romance deal. Unlimited takes the same characters and drops them into a new setting, and basically serves as an intro for Alternative. (It's pretty disappointing on its own, but if you only think of it as an intro it's alright I guess.) I strongly recommend you read both before starting Alternative.

After staring at it for like two whole minutes I guess I can KIND of get what you were aiming at, but jesus christ, what is it with /jp/ VN threads and shitty confusing attempts at graphics like that?

Well, if I'm interpreting it correctly, that's more or less correct I guess, besides that the line connecting the end of the orange line to the first part of purple/pink should probably come from all the top branches, since Unlimited/Alternative Takeru is basically a combination of all other Takerus.

Speaking of which, something I didn't understand myself about all that... If Takeru in Unlimited/Alternative is a combination of every Takeru that failed to hook up with Sumika, then why does he have memories of doing so? He clearly remembers that hot spring scene (did that also happen in Meiya's route? I don't remember now) as well as the beginning of fucking her, when he goes back to Extra-world, and wasn't that kind of the whole reason he decided to go after Sumika in the first place?

Dark gray line is Takeru going back and forth from the universe that he fucks up
Light gray line is Takeru going to the final universe at the end of Alternative

Superiors also don't oversee the galaxy/universe ONLY the planet they are currently harvesting from. You don't get it. A massive mining system that spans at least one galaxy has to operate with minimal or no oversight from the Zousoushu. Therefore, the system must be engineered to be flexible, self-managing and self-repairing from anything. What if there was a major meteor impact, or a massive earthquake, or something like that would kill off the Jouisonzai of a planet? Would it just be a write-off? Of course not, there obviously needs to be various levels of backup systems and fail-safes to keep the system running, especially since they designed so much of the operations around a central point of failure (the Jouisonzai). It would be marginal to build in an algorithm into the the reactors or maybe even the BETA molecule itself that if the control signal is lost to spawn another Jouisonzai at another Hive. Indeed, why would they NOT have such an obvious disaster recovery system in place?

For all we know that could be the case, but Kashgar had the only Level 6+ hive on Earth, whereas there are Level 9 hives on Mars. It could merely be an issue of a Superior spawning only when a Hive reaches a certain level of development. There's also the possibility of the Moon or Mars sending a replacement to Earth.

Either way, as Yuuko said, blowing up Kashgar at the cost of 80% of the world's resources only bought 20 years of time for the human race. Humanity's already been fighting them for 25 years and made more progress in two fucking weeks than in those prior 25. So, beating the BETA is not a guaranteed deal by any stretch. Just remember the rules that were outlined in Alternative. Each laser unit can only shoot once per turn, so if you manage to make all of the units fire, you can jump, fly, and do whatever the hell you want for the rest of the turn. Laser units won't shoot if there's another unit in the way, so you can often minimize/completely avoid damage by landing with one in between your unit and the laser unit. Landing behind rocks also protects your unit. Always try to make use of the "escape spots" that you get when you jump and start to get irradiated. Pic related

Yes.
>and what's this about letters in alternative?
Whichever squad member you have the most points with writes you a love letter which you read at the end.

Seems that way. I picked Mikoto.

Meiya's is a bit different because the other girls start sobbing as if they know Takeru's probably dust particles by the time they arrive at the new planet. Meiya repeats that famous line from Extra, "Not bye bye, say "see you later" if you want to see someone again".

Mikoto's H scene gets some points for being funnier than the other ones. She has the best pickup line ever - "If you really see me as a woman, Takeru, why don't you prove it?"
