Both the fanon generic moeblob abomination, and the completely uninspired grimdark image elitists have selfishly decided is canon, are unforgivable atrocities. The true beauty of touhou characters are in their interpretation. ZUN's true talent in character creation is giving his fans just enough to work to mold into their own creative works, drawing on some subtle appeals or creating new ones that make sense in the context of the character.

Drawing up an image of Alice as a generic sociopathic bitch who doesn't care about anyone not only undermines the greatest strength of Touhou, but it's also incredibly dull and uninteresting, reducing the depth of her character to that of a fanfiction creation.

On the other hand, foolishly pigeonholing her straight into a standard deredere or tsundere archetype is also a crime against creativity, and not to mention so distant from the source material that it can no longer be considered an interpretation, but rather as applying a completely different character unto her character design. It's like going to a recital to hear someone's interpretation of a Beethoven sonata, and right after the exposition he starts playing some pop tune instead.
