And it's not as simple as pressing a button, either. You have to keep an eye on the waffle iron so that you don't burn your waffles.
Also, waffles have nooks and crannies which can hold lots of syrup and other toppings, thus making them superior to pancakes.

I've had plenty of crepes with breakfast ingredients in such as baked beans, bacon, scrambled egg, and so on. I've also had more lunch-like crepes with smoked salmon, minced beef, sour cream, that sort of thing.
