How am I suppose to know that before ordering? I imagine both cotton and polyester could be made into coarse or fine silky fabric depending on the weaving.

Both are made to custom measurements. One cost more than twice than the other. Does that mean it's made better or is it only because the cheaper one is made from China?

See the thing is, you actually have to be a girl (or Chisame level trap) with DAT ASS to pull that off and not look ridiculously. So for trap maids go with the shy and reserved look like in OP's pic.

That's probably it. The more expensive one is also made of broadcloth versus a cotton/polyester blend, which drives up the price, however broadcloth is more durable. Since they make men's dress shirts in both it would be worth checking out before placing your order which fabric you like better.

Now with that being said, I'd rather wear the Classical Maid design (shame the fabric isn't better), but I could see this hobby becoming rather addictive.

If you want it to look silky, try to find one that's 100% polyester. Of course it will still vary depending on the weaving, but other things being equal, polyester is going to be smoother and shinier than cotton. Keep in mind that polyester won't breathe very well though.

I don't get the shinier thing though. I've never seen maid dress depicted as having a glossy look. It's always matte so shinny polyester or silk would just look wrong I reckon.
