Got my Saeko today. Good to see it wasn't caught up in the quake because I wasn't sure if it had made it onto a plane or not beforehand. Figure itself I like a lot but the base is pretty cheap looking. Took a second to figureout how to get the translucent tanktop on (it's a rubbery one piece and you have to slip it over the top past the shoulders and breasts) but if you stretch it and slide fast it fits on pretty easily.

I want the pink apron that is part of the special campaign but not enough to buy the Rei and Saya figures which I do not like at all.

Guys, when will the Suika figma be available for preorder?
Is it another of those exclusive fig that required me to use proxy service?

Otacute's not my favorite online vendor. The prices are better than using a proxy but they're kinda uptight when it comes to store policy. They gave me twelve shades of nightmare grief when I asked if I could pay them for my Dollfie Reimu using two different credit cards. You'd have thought I'd told them they had to pay for it. It was kinda ridiculous. It took them days of deliberation and stress before they "kindly made an exception" for me. Well, thanks.

I had another not fantastic experience when I preordered my Nendoroid Flan and Youmu at the same time. The Flan came in but they refused to send it to me until the Youmu is in stock. Now Flandre is long out of stock and only time will tell if they actually hung on to the one I preordered.

Also, their waiting lists are a joke. I missed out on the preorder for a Moe Damashii Reimu tapestry and although they confirmed that they would be getting extra when the item was released, they flat out told me to eat shit when I asked if I could pay them in full and up front to reserve one. The vast majority of new releases are of characters that will be more or less forgotten in a year or two, when no one cares anymore about the anime or the eroge they came from. You might think "why not buy this?" when you see it, but the enjoyment you'll get out of it won't be worth the money you spend on it. You should instead wait for those rare releases that you just must have, of memorable characters that you'll still recall far beyond the end of their anime or beyond the popularity of their eroge. These are characters you can look up at and feel inspired by, the rest is just trash that you put on some shelf out of sight and don't even bother dusting regularly.

There is always the chance of a reprint (rerun?). I know that vocaloid, k-on, and BRS figmas have gotten multiple runs although sometimes separated by a few months. Second/third runs require large popularity and a high demand. Oreimo has been pretty popular in the last many months but I don't know how much staying power it actually has. If you really want to make sure you get it, preorder it. If you don't mind not getting it or having to wait, don't preorder.

Personally I pre-order figures that aren't as popular as the mainstream stuff because they usually never get a re-issue. Doesn't work out always, since I almost missed out on Revoltech Iron Man. I never guessed he would sell that well and hoped for some discounts.

what you could do is preorder it and if it sells out then good, you preordered it. if it doesn't sell out and goes on special, buy a second one and resell that when it eventually does sell out to help recoup cost of both the second one and knock off a chunk of the first one's price. not a good plan for the short term or if you don't have extra capital to have tied up though. personal morals may also be called into question by some people by buying for profit.

Do some self-moderation. Looking at figures, the only pre-order I've running at the moment is the Miku reprint, and I'm thinking about getting Ika Musume DX Wave, and the Kotobukiya Saten.
Simply don't get envious about pictures like OP; although looking at it more closely I wouldn't have bought even one of those. A small collection has the advantage of not putting other people off as much. Use your money for more important things.

I wanted it until I saw that warning. I've never bought a coldcast before, but I know someone who has a few and I don't think he's ever had one be broken on arrival. I always use EMS, but I still don't know if I want to risk spending that much money and having it arrive damaged.

What is coldcast, a method for making the figure or something? If it makes it more fragile, what's the point? Is it better for detail?

I had a friend order a coldcast figure before (I think it was the Nekomimi Louise figure) and it arrived pretty damaged, like a large piece of hair was broken off and part of the neck was broken and a little twisted. The damage was extensive enough to warrant a full refund from amiami and they asked him to try and refrain for ordering coldcast in the future, especially when dealing with international shipping.

Kind of makes me not want to get coldcast now that they have a warning, typically means less chance of refund.

Also her guns come separate and there aren't really any delicate or thin parts on her. I can't imagine an entire arm breaking off during shipping.

cold cast = resin figure. Much more fragile.

I've got a handful of resins. Two from E2046 who package pretty damn well with a foam fortress. Three from Capcom/Yamato (two Morrigan, one Lilith - I have two Morrigan because one I bought on its own, the other was in a set with the Lilith and the price was cheap). One of the Morrigan ones has a broken piece of hair on the back but I was able to glue it back together without being too obvious. One thing of note is that the Yamato ones were packaged in that hard kind of styrofoam while the E2046 ones use a more "airy" foam if that makes any sense.

That is a gorgeous Kusanagi, and if you really dig the figure, I say go for it.

Coldcast plastic is still plastic. If there are thin parts in the mold you might have something to worry about as far as breakage but since Motoko's built like a brick shithouse I would imagine any damage incurred during shipment would be very negligible. Especially if you have it shipped via EMS. Thin loli arms like on the Louise statue would be a definite risk. Kusanagi's jacked guns are probably safe.

I think i will order her. I mean even if she does arrive broken and Amiami wont issue a refund as long as i use EMS i should be fine since it is insured against damage. She is just so nice looking that i can't help but want her.
