I can't really bring myself to buy it without the figma now.

Yes, you can count on GSC & Alter but really, EVERYTHING varies. There are figures by Ques Q, Clays, Alphamax, Plum, etc... that rival stuff the Big Two puts out.

It's just that you can count on Good Smile and Alter. You're really never (at least at present) going to get a piece of shit with them. There's no other companies you can say that about right now. Even Kotobukiya. Some of their stuff is great and some of it is fucking awful. They also have a habit of fucking up really nice figures with really shitty looking bases.

Yeah, approaching release the discount decreases. Of course, AFTER release they usually cut the price if any are left over but you really don't want to take the chance if it's a must-have item. They are collectible. They are limited. They often sell out.

I would rather deal with amiami than anyone else by far. Hobby Search is excellent also, although I've dealt with them less because of my loyalties.

If you're looking for deals, though, check Hobby Link Japan. They DO have some ridiculously good shit on sale from time to time.

feels indifferent man. I just wished the YOSHI got maker attention earlier, because I spent 6 months trying to get my GK painted correctly. If I knew he would mass product this model, I would have only sprayed the base over it and put it on display(I like the shining gray from the base paint) together with the commercial version. On the other hand, I have the feeling my paint job will be "better" than the commercial because its optimized to my tastes(like the make up, hair color gradation, etc) and the material is better and more "substantial". Anyway enough of this talk. If I wanted to show off and make people jelly I would have showed my entire mini-collection, not an old pic. Anyway, if you live overseas, good luck buying GSC models because neither amiami nor 1999.co.jp will be selling the the touhou GSC figures. Only smaller shops like Tora no ana and NicoNicoIchiba. As proof just search for the Chen. And no, I don't have Chen nor Ran. I only buy QUALITY Yukaris(4), Shikieikis(2) and Mimas(0, I'm yet to find a good GK or commercial version, hopefully Mima will be in TH13 and the figure trends will change).

Proxy services are charging about 4500yen for the rerelease and cirno nendo. Before otacute went under, the Chen was going for around $90+ at otacute.

I sometimes think about creating a proxy service myself for really cheap(like 500yen and gas required to bring the package to the post office, just for the power bill). My interest in this would be able to see(through the box) the actual product before buying one for myself(sometimes the website pictures look great but the actual model looks awful or at least nor as good. Most recent case was one of the Black Shooter Rock or whatever she is called). Plus it would be nice to troll the competition.

I think there is also one, that doesn't charge anything if you use EMS (jshoppers...?).
The problem is, that some of the major shops appear to have started to refuse shipping to these services.

This image is the latest iteration of the colored Suika griffon figure, by the way, so this is probably as close as it'll look like to when it comes out.

Just had a fig arrive that I'd ordered from a Hong Kong ebay.
Much to my suprise, it's authentic, or at least a well enough done fake that it's hardly worth getting upset about.
Probably won't risk it again though, even with the amount of old figs I want to pick up.

Nope, got a Holstein Hanako, got a thing for Tsukasa Juns art.
Shiki guys dilemma matched mine pretty closely though.
New to the fig scene, and snapped it up at first sight as it was barely above the original retail price.
Then the doubts set in, Hong Kong, chinese knockoffs, too good to be true, all that. But, when it gets here, it all seems kosher, it matches the promo pics pretty much perfectly, paint jobs right, castoff fine, no damage or wear. Even had the 3 Hanako artwork postcards. If it IS fake ( and I'm not sure if there are any for the fig) then they really did a good enough job that I'm still happy with the purchase. Probably gonna stick to Japanese sellers from now on if I ebay, and research more before actually spending anything.
