What the fuck /jp/

SWR has no guard break inputs?

As far as I can see, there isn't a direct way to punish anyone for guarding at all, no throws, no guard break, low hits only combo to high, and merely walking into a wall makes it impossible to cross you up.

What were they thinking?

No, it's just retardedly biased to the defender who just walks into a wall all day, who can graze anything that an enemy throws at him, and thanks AGAIN to the fact that very few melee hits have blockstun, you can't start a blockstring in again.

I'm honestly confused about how this game is supposed to be played.

>> No.707268

There's ways to go for a gaurd break either by:

1) Using 6A/3A with some characters (A is held down)

2) Throwing bullets at the enemy while they're blocking, which damages their spirit bar.

There ARE Guard Breaks, did you tinker enough?

Usually 6[A]s and 3[A]s will change a move into a guard break; block it incorrectly and you break an orb and force them open.

That'd only drain maybe three orbs.

My blockstring in a corner is 5AA -> 6A -> 5B -> instant j.6A -> j.2B (fall) -> j.5A repeat

Unescapable without Border Escapes, and has almost no tax on Reimu's spirit, i.e. you can do this infinitely.

If you don't do a instant j.6A on the first available frame, however, you'll whiff short characters like Youmu or Suika.

That's exactly it. What if chancy happenings only happen to one of the players? Things like this are, more often than not, out of the control of players. They will, because tourneyfags will be screaming for it in the name of having a level playing field for tourneys, and they'll probably even boycott until the toggle is in. It's fine for casual playing, but it would really suck to have a championship match decided because the game randomly decided to shut melee off, because the losing player would do nothing but whine, and the winner's victory wouldn't really be seen as legit.

I wouldn't really give a shit about that, except that a fightan gaem's popularity is determined to a good extent by its viability in tournaments, and if the tourneyfags bail, the game is pretty much dead in the water. I can't believe faggots would rather play absolute trash like fucking MvC2 or SC3 instead. Their hands should fall off. VF forever.

Those two aren't even half as bad as the God of Shit: Killer Instinct. Mortal Kombat II was crap, too, but it had the redeeming factor of pissing parents off.

SC3 is shit, but MvC2 has the "THERE'S SO MUCH SHIT ONSCREEN OH GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!" thing going for it.

Playwise it's crap though.

Hey now, you're being a little harsh on KI. At least it didn't spawn a bunch of successively more horrible sequels like MK. Plus, Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Need I say more? Fucking crime against humanity.

Though really, broken as it is, I love Mortal Kombat II.
Not that I play it a lot, or.. well, at all. But there's something about just knowing it's there.

>One of the things that I like about SWR is that it seems to strike a pretty good balance between being fun for casual players and for hardcore dorks

I really don't hear much of the 'hardcore' being pleased about this game. In fact they seem pretty pissed off about it.

From what I can tell, they're mostly pissed about the weather, and there's already a hack that disables it, although you have to edit the .exe.

Weather is by far the worst of it, yes, but it's not everything.

But all the evasive shit isn't good either, and by that I mean flight, border escapes, and wrongblock pushback. It seriously dilutes the mixup game by reducing situational advantage/disadvantage. That's a real big turnoff for the 'hardcore'.

I think the sponge sucks up the explosion and the bowl is just there so the sponge isnt on the ground. It would get dirty and that lowers it's ability to suck up nukes.
