Yes, but this doesn't make much sense given the nature of a VN. Unless you think that replaying the entire game at fixed speed to get both the "coming inside" and "coming outside" CG somehow makes you a "better VN player". And replaying common to get different routes is a bother too.

There are workarounds that let you bookmark locations in the DVD to use as pseudo-saves. Just getting the thing to work reliably is a pain in the ass though. A shame since Phantom was a great read.

I had ripped the subs previously but the quality of the translation and the fact that it was in written in the third person rather than the first like the original game put me off doing anything with it.

There was an attempt to rip the translation from the dvd to insert it on the game. But it was found out that a lot of text from the pc version was missing in the dvd version.

It might not be possible to rip it, but how about just typing it out as you go? If you're a pretty fast typist it wouldn't really be that much trouble to do this. I remember trolling some random chat room by copying Swan Song lines in this manner for something like two hours when I was drunk and bored. Hell, maybe I'd even be willing to transcribe this myself (because despite the shitty format I do think it's a good VN) if others were capable of inserting the text into the Japanese version, and possibly translating the scenes that aren't in the dvd version. (assuming it's not too many)

Ah, nevermind, read more of the thread, I guess transcribing wouldn't be necessary. Still, I'd have no problem helping with QC. I usually don't like doing such things beyond reporting errors as I read the patched version, as I don't want to spoil myself, but in this case I've already read/watched the DVD version so that's no issue.

I'm not quite sure which ones are which, but there are versions with voices, without voices, sex scenes, no sex scenes, and then I think there's one that even lets you choose what guns to use for each mission.
The DVD version has the most voices for sure, since it even has the narrator.

Well, for extracting the lines, even if they are frames with hardcoded subtitles, it would be relatively easy to set up an optical text recognition software and have it convert the lines to editable text as a batch. I don't mind proofreading, but I know nothing about implementing the english text into the jp pc game. I could probably extract the text easy enough, though. As for the voice patch, I'd be up for tedious work (already have done some for the KH voice patch). The only thing left would be the untranslated line translation
